How to access another user's playlist in the Desktop App

I am using Spotify desktop in Windows 7 (Yeah, I know... I'm upgrading to Windows 10 soon).

How can I find another person's playlist? They've e-mailed me a link, but I don't know what to do with it in the desktop app...

Also, is the desktop app free of ads even in a free account??

Hi There,

First of all, Please try the link to see what message you get.

Secondly, free account isnt ad-free regardless of device you use.

Hope it helps! Let me know if you get a response on the link your friend sent!

Cheers!

How do I "try the link" in the Desktop app? Or, for that matter, in a mobile app?

Where do you enter the link?

I know where to put a link in a browser. What do I do with a link in the Spotify app??

Hey @Erin_Baxter - apologies for any confusion!

If you're referring to the URI of the playlist (which appears like this: spotify:playlist:37i9dQZF1DWZPpJfiCJZnS), then all you need to do is copy/paste it into the search bar in the desktop app.

If it's a URL (which appears like this: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DWZPpJfiCJZnS?si=TLx4BMFvSRKcyU0t0l6AeA), then all you need to do is click on the link (or copy/paste it into your browser's search bar) - it should ask you to open the playlist in the desktop app.

If you're still having trouble, do you mind copy/pasting the link that you were sent?

Thanks - keep us posted!
