How to permamently fix the blank screen problem for the desktop client?

I have found some posts that have a similar problem. When Spotify's desktop client is started normally, it cannot acces the internet. Instead, there is just a blank screen whenever I browse for songs and artists. In one thread, someone provided a temporary fix:

I need to go to "run" and write 

%APPDATA%\Spotify\spotify.exe --disable-accelerated-layers --disable-accelerated-fixed-root-background

However, this is just a temporary fix; it is not reasonable for me to have to go to start>run everytime I want to start Spotify properly. This is seriously making me consider switching to Rdio, since it's too much of a hassle to look up this code everytime my run console clears. 

What is a permament fix? Why does this happen? I have the latest update and I am on windows 7.
