My Question or Issue

I've seen this topic around for years, and it's affecting ME now, and there doesn't seem to be any real solution to it. I have my local files. I ADD SOURCE. Choose my music folder. All my MP3s get recognized and play back fine EXCEPT for my Tool albums. They're no different than any of my OTHER MP3s and they play just fine in iTunes. WHY?

I've updated my Quicktime and the Codecs, I've uninstalled/reinstalled, shut down/restarted,etc. and nothing. Why won't this work??!?!?!?!

Hey @AIm80, welcome to the Community!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with this. We'll do our best to help out 🙂

Does the issue persist if you convert the files to another supported file type? You can find the supported file types here.

Let us know how it goes.

I have an idea how to help. Go to the development leader there in Birger Jarlsgatan 61 and ask him to build in mp3 codec support in the player.

I have now done everything in my power to make Spotify play my mp3 files. I have installed codecs and restarted the machine over and over again. All the while getting increasingly angrier at Sweden.

These files have been able to play on anything from iPods, mp3 players, discmans and more over the last ten years. But of course, Spotify will not play them. Because the truth is you are making this hard on purpose to avoid illegal downloading.

The problem however is that Microsoft now owns you and have discontinued Groove. So now Spotify will have to be able to support the files Groove did before. Make it work!
