Local files are not downloading to my phone

Local files are not downloading to my phone

Basically, at this point, I believe I've tried everything to make my local files download to my phone. Spotify is not blocked by the firewall. Both devices are on the same internet. My desktop is mainly using ethernet but I have tried using wifi instead, which did nothing. I have also reinstalled Spotify on both devices. Some local files that I added to my playlists more than a year ago, got automatically synched with my new phone. So perhaps there's something with the files (mp3, wav etc.)?

If anyone has any ideas about fixing this, please let me know.

Hey, thanks for reaching out.

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstallation of the app. Just follow the steps hereIf it doesn't work try to use this more advanced guide 🙂

Try to create another user account on your PC and install Spotify there. Also try signing out and back in on your phone several times to see if that helps.

Please note that if you have a large amound of local files to sync it might take some time for them to show up. Don't forget to go to the playlist you created with those Local Files in your PC to enable the Download option in your phone as well.

Note: Files or downloads from illegal sources are not permitted.

Spotify supports the following file types:

  • .mp3
  • .m4p (unless it contains video)
  • .mp4 (if QuickTime is installed on your computer)

Please read this FAQ about Local Files 🙂

Hope it helps!
