Lost: Device has disappeared. Please help me find it.

Lost: Device has disappeared. Please help me find it.

My 2 year residence in this community has been uplifting.

The neighbors are quiet and unassuming. Sometimes very helpful.

Lately, my 3 year old Pyle Amp has developed a taste for hiding.

( a PDA 5BU.0)

It has gotten to the point where it pretends to be invisible,

although I can see it on my desk. Yet, when looking at Spotify,

it refuses to be seen or shake hands.

All devices are gleefully playing in a cooperative manner

with the house's bluetooth/internet, yet the tiny amp

has decided it prefers speaking only to my iphone.

The exact same problem now has plagued my Echo Dot.

I disregarded this behavior for a time, until I realized that

the entire electronic family was at one point playing

nicely.

All windows updates are in place, all drivers are accounted for,

Spotify is up to date, all devices have been started and restarted

numerous times...  Spotify has been completely uninstalled as well.

I miss my obedient connections and the carefree ability to

turn on the pc and have it send music to whatever device I wish.

Could someone please help bring peace back to ths tiny world of music?

Hi there @PENicholson,

Let's try and get you reunited with your music at once, shall we?

Looks like the desktop app and your amp aren't communicating properly. Is your computer normally connected to the amp via Bluetooth or Wifi? If it's via Bluetooth, we'll have to troubleshoot Windows. Here are a few things to check:

  1. Check if the two devices are properly connected in the Bluetooth & other devices panel and see if you get sound playing through the amp with other apps than Spotify. If you don't, you can try updating your computer's bluetooth drivers to see if that does the trick.
  2. If it's just Spotify that won't play, perhaps you've selected the wrong audio playback device for the app. Search in Windows for Sound Settings and open them, then go to App volume and device preferences, find Spotify from the list of apps (make sure it's running and playing media) and choose your amp (or select Default) as the new audio playback device.

If you connect to your amp via Wifi, try editing your amp's network settings, and if possible, disable DHCP and alter the DNS to one of Google's public DNS' listed below:

  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4

In case you don't have such settings in your amp, you can try these in your router instead. It's also worth rebooting the router and re-connecting all devices to the network, if you haven't already.

If the you're still unable to use Spotify on your computer with your amp, you might actually be experiencing this ongoing issue that's currently being looked into. We'll keep everyone posted in there as soon as we have any new info to share, so feel free to check it out and share the requested details to aid us in the investigation.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

Are you new to the Community? Take a moment to introduce yourself!

I had always assumed it was Bletooth, but only yesterday learned my PC has no bluetooth capability. (Ordered a bluetooth adapter yesterday)

Since it is wifi, I have done a few facepalms in realizing my ignorant self had not enabled the wifi

Turned on the wifi and found it still was not doing well. I am now following up on your suggestion

concerning DHCP and DNS presently...

Hey @PENicholson,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

We'd hope these suggestions work, but if after trying them you don't notice any difference, we'd recommend having a look at this thread in which we're monitoring the described behavior. You can find other suggestions to try and the details we'll need you to send us in order to forward the info onto the right team in the thread's status at the top.
