@Joan, I'm using Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64
Spotify version: 1.2.45
Edit: BTW, search bar doesn't work, but I can still search by pressing CTRL+K. That works
Hey folks,
Many thanks for the reports!
I'm chiming in to let you know that the issue is currently being looked into backstage by our tech folks! We'll keep you posted as soon as there's anything new to share 🙂
Keep in mind that you should still be able to use Ctrl+K to search in the meantime! Cheers 🙌🏼
Found a fix.
tl;dr: No surprise, I had to upgrade. Which I had to do through the Microsoft AppStore. That version works.
The long:
Just noticed this is a problem. When I went to the elipsis (3 dots) top left > Help > about Spotify, it showed I was at an earlier version. I tried selecting the "Download update", it ran for a little bit, then said it had the update and I had to restart Spotify for it to install. So I selected the link to have it restart and install. Spotify restarted, but it never installed.
I tried downloading the latest version of Spotify from their website, but they only redirect you to the Microsoft App store... Luckily, I am able to download and install apps from the AppStore on my home PC. I upgraded via the app store.
This worked, and Spotify upgraded to version Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.65.255.g85e641b4. Now when I search I get results.
@Spotify team, is there a way to download and install Spotify not through the windows app store? Not all systems allow people to use the AppStore. What happened to the days of being able to download executables directly from companies?
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.53.440.g7b2f582a
Windows 11 Pro 22H2
Clean install, reset app/cache, different connections.
Seemed to be a version issue. Uninstalled the old one, installed new app (Flatpak), there the search bar works OK. Sorry for posting to wrong thread: this was a Linux issue, not Windows 10.
how do i get help??? where is the link??? i can no longer search in the desktop app. i have logged out, closed the app and logged back in and still can't search. very frustrated and thinking about cancelling my premium subscription.

My Question or Issue
Search does not work - whenever I type just one letter, it says "Something went wrong - try to reload the page". But that does not help at all. So I can only play whatever is on the home page. This has been going on for a long, long time now. I've tried logging out, doing a real exit, rebooting the PC. All to no avail. How long must this be going on?
zWhen I click on my account there is at the bottom Failed update and orange dot right of this text. When I click it - nothing happens. MS Store doen't see never verion than 1.2.53.440.g7b2f582a.
Now What is wrong?
Yes, this is happening to mines as well. It is the second time not loading a page, before it was the home page and now it’s the search page. This keeps happening on the app.
Same issue (start typing "led" and get No Results for "led"), but different platforms:
I think it's safe to say it's not an issue with my account or my client
This is an issue and it is annoying, I can't look for a specific song, artist or whatever, whenever I start typing in the search bar, the 'sth went wrong" message is displayed and reloading does not help.
I do not have this issue on my mobile app
This has been an issue for 2+ months now and it's still the same. I pay money for this app monthly, and one of the most basic functionalities is still inaccessible? Spotify come on, this is unacceptable.
Usually I don't even report issues like this because I know for a fact it's not me or my system, it's always the application, never me. So I waited, and waited, and waited, waited some more, and it's still not fixed. The issue has been talked about, now please fix it....
I had luck uninstalling and reinstalling, probably since it wasn't updating in the app. went from 1.2.35 to 1.2.65 and now the search works fine for me.
Hey folks,
Thanks for all the info you've sent so far.
If you're still experiencing this, as @Vasil mentioned previously, perform a clean reinstall of the app by following these steps to make sure you're running the latest version of the app. It's also worth checking if the OS of your PC has any pending updates.
Let us know how it goes.

My Question or Issue
Every time i try to search something i get "something went wrong". I have tried restarting and clearing cache and I have re connected to the internet and still can't figure out why my search isn't working. Anyone else having this problem? or is it just me lol.
Thanks for this I just reinstalled and its working now!!!
Regarding Linux Mint 22.1 users, a solution I found was to not use the software manager, instead use the Debian method to download Spotify which is explained in this official page:
https://www.spotify.com/de-en/download/linux/
Uninstalling and clearing cache and local files of Spotify then redownloading (from software manager) like mentioned as a solution did not work for me, which is how I found this solution instead.
same problem here, 5 years later
same network, phone is able to search on the same account, but the other device is not able, only getting a failure message
it was working fine before approx 5 months
