Media Keys on keyboard and mouse don't work when Show desktop overlay is on

When show desktop overlay when using media keys is on the media keys dont work on mouse or keyboard i dont have google music on chrome and ive tried reinstalling it seemed to not work after the new windows 10 update

I just came across this issue.  My media keys would only work if I already had the Spotify window selected but that defeats the point entirely!  When I disable the "Show desktop overlay..." option, it suddenly works normally again.  Weirdly I only just came across this problem now so I wonder if the last update automatically enabled this option for me?

Also a bit mad that this issue has existed for over a year now!  I guess no one is using the desktop overlay and media keys together which also seems odd
