No sound from only spotify

Hi,

I use the spotify application for windows (not the windows 10 version).

Since yesterday, no sound comes from spotify, yet I hear the other applications of my computers.

I've tried :

Re-Install Spotify

Check my drivers

- Unplug and reconnect my headphones

Help my please ...

Have a nice day

Same here, no sound.

Unistalled, installed windows store version, reboot, install, reboot, no sound, uninstall, reboot, install, no sound...

And it won't even play any local files... strange....

Hey @Dj_Romy_Fi and @HardWUnbox

That's odd, and I think it may be caused by Spotify being simply muted in Windows' Volume Mixer. 🙂

When you right-click on the speaker icon on taskbar and choose "Volume Mixer", you should see a small window with separate volume sliders for each open program that can play sound.

Make sure Spotify is not muted.

If Spotify is not muted, it may help if you mute and then unmute it, and then restart Spotify.

Let me know how it goes!

Right, thank you for the screencap 🙂

I would also suggest performing a clean reinstall like this:

1. Close Spotify and uninstall it.

2. Go to %AppData% in Windows Explorer, and delete any Spotify folders you find in Local and Roaming folders.

3. Restart your computer.

4. Now reinstall Spotify.

If you have made any recent system-related changes (connecting to Discord as well), please let me know 🙂

Interesting...

I went through what updates I've made and I reinstalled GeForce Game Drivers 391.01 released 02/26/2018...

And now my spotify is working.... Strange.....

And afrer computer reboot:  spotify no audio again .. LOL..

@Dj_Romy_Fi

Well, that's unpleasant when the computer does that :')

I think it would be worth trying to reinstall/roll back the audio driver.
Try this:

1. Open the Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the Windows search box).
2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio". Target the specific device you are trying to prevent crackling on (Headphones, Speakers, etc).
3. Select to "Update Driver Software".
4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.
7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" or "Generic Audio Device" (the native driver).
8. Click "Next".
9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver).
10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.

That will install Windows' native audio driver.

Is there still no audio when you go to open.spotify.com (the web player)?

Tested the Microsoft default hihg definition audio driver

and the web spotify works, so does deskotp iTunes, Pioneer RecordBox, FLStudio 12 (fruityloops)

but Spotify (windows store version 1.0.74.380...) no sound at all.

(and also my trusted winamp and audacity doesn't work either)

... and changed back to Realtek high definition drivers 6.0.1.7910, 8/16/2016...

Computer booted several times, reinstalled nvidia drivers with the geforce experience..

rebooted...

and suddenly spotify windows store version works,

rebooted, still works.. let see tomorrow 😄

Okay, I think I figured out how to break it... Not so sure how to fix it.

Switch between web app and windows store app using the "spotify connect" on the same machine and after couple of changes, no audio from windows store app.

And when change from browser to store app is changing it will genereate following error:

And after latest app push, when starting spotify:

That's weird!

Any changes in attitude when you start Spotify as an elevated process (admin rights) or run in compatibility mode of any kind?

I'm not too surprised when nvidia drivers include updates that improve Spotify's performance - it's a combination of audio and visual things and it's nice if everything works. I'm weirded out that it doesn't stay functional...

Nope, running as admin doesn't affect at all and that was almost the first thing I tried.

I think I need to use DDU to uninstall all geforce stuff.

I already installed new bios 😄
