Notifications for followed artist is not working

If you follow an artist and new music is added to Spotify you are supposed to get a notification in "the bell" in the right corner. This usually works for albums and singles (not for "appears on").

Well , for the last three weeks, this feature does not work and there is really no point in following an artist.

Anyone else?

Notifications have been gone for months, but I can access them in the online player. I've removed all offline devices -- any other suggestions?

It is that for most is not a solution, but at least is good news. The latest client for Linux, includes notifications bell again.

confirmed, 1.0.28 (.87.g8f9312a4 ) and notification bell reappeared.
...but every notification i've missed has been "flagged as read"

Spotify has removed notifications in app-- everything is now done through push notifications. 

Makes everything a lot harder imo, but seems like that's what Spotify is about now.

"We are continuously working to improve and simplify our notifications features, so we’re shifting our focus to email and push notifications. As such, we will be turning off in-client notifications on desktop ("The Bell") in or around May 15, 2016. If you have comments or ideas around this change, you can join the conversation at our Community here."


It isn't improved, nor simplified, and "The Bell" went back at 20 May.
Should we go back and forth from email and spotify clients? How this could be read as an improvement?

Spotify users wants to be able to keep track their favs, they didn't get any kind of alert about this.... 


Again, just insane.

For the time being, the Spotify web app (the browser version) still has the notification bell and notifications, including all the old ones you haven't had a chance to listen to yet.

Please kudo this idea and post there so they know people are not happy about removal of desktop notifications:

The in-app notifications "bell" on Desktop has been officially turned off. Check this thread out for the official response:

Still not working and I'm not getting emails anymore either. 

The only notification I get is from my bank saying that Spotify has taken my money.

Despite following many artists and new music releases I haven't received a Spotify notification in at least a year, this is frustrating, what is the solution?!

Hey @awegalore,

Those notifications are now made through email, so you should opt-in for email notifications within the app's settings.

Also, I'd suggest to check swarm.fm for notifications on your followed artists.

Companion for Spotify also works for Windows 10, which is also available as an Android app.

In the app it says that new music notificaions could be received bia push
notifications, an option I chose which used to work. I noticed other people
have been experiencing this problem and considering I am now a premium user
it concerns me even more. This wasn't a problem about a year ago. I wonder
whether it has to do with me being on beta software.

Now in the update the bell is removed entirely, while push notifications also don't work. There's no reason to follow an artist at all anymore. Trying out Amazon music.
