Podcast Continues to restart at previous starting position

So, this issue has been happening for a while now and may be due to the interaction between my phone and desktop. I start a podcast on my phone, then restart on my desktop. I close out the application on my phone (Galaxy S6 Edge (I think)) and start the one on my desktop. Let's say this ended at 33:32. Whenever I pause this after this point, it will reset back to 33:32 whenever I resume, or sometimes when I even pause. I know the app is no longer running on my phone unless it does in the background, and this is very inconvenient and annoying because I have to jot down my times when I pause so I can go back. I have not noted the same experience on my phone, or when I'm listening to music, usually just podcasts (maybe because they are longer and don't end as soon). Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!

Try using Google Music. Much better than Spotify, I'm and definitely doesn't reset after pausing.
