My Question or Issue

The issue is with the sorting options in the Spotify desktop app for Windows 10. There is no option to sort by recently added episodes, like there you can do on the mobile app (iOS). I've fully migrated from the iTunes podcasting app to Spotify podcasts because Spotify's app is faster and more reliable on mobile, but the lack of a "New Episode" section on desktop makes it a chore to listen at home. I find myself sorting through the recents list on my phone, and then connecting to my PC just to play the day's newest podcast uploads. Please add a 'sort by new epidsode' function to the desktop app! ❤️

I totally agree with this! The podcast section of the PC application needs a complete overhaul. I have no idea how the current UI/UX was approved as it is IMPOSSIBLE to list all new podcasts from the list of subscribed podcasts like you can on mobile. You can sort Podcast channels by 'Recently Added', but this does sweet f-a, as listing the podcast channels you subscribed to has no practical use whatsoever.

The podcast page (Your Library > Podcasts) should display the list of podcast episodes from all subscribed podcasts by date released by default. E.g.

Hey there @Brodie_C and @Novocastrian

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about this.

Spotify constantly strives to improve the user experience with its features and the easiest way to achieve this is by regular app updates. That’s why we appreciate you taking the time to share your suggestion with the Community.

If you think other users might also like it, go ahead and create an idea on the relevant idea board. We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.

We also suggest checking this help article for useful tips on how to submit an idea. As a heads-up, it's good to know that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented 🙂

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions.

THIS a thousand times. It's basically the only reason I don't use Spotify for podcasts. Icons/list items should be smaller too.

Please vote for this feature here:

It is ridiculous that Spotify still hasn't implemented this incredibly basic feature for Desktop, which exists in the app.

Whoaaa. So spotify spends 100 million on a single exclusive podcast deal, their staff threatens to strike, and the official stance is to pass the buck to the consumer?? "if enough people want this feature...??" If enough people DIDNT want to listen to podcasts why the investment and upheaval? Talk about marginalizing the consumer, thanks for the insult.

Definitely. For all of the talk about how much Spotify is investing in podcasts, I definitely prefer Pocket Casts over Spotify for exactly this reason. I can see a  list of new releases from all sources. The only reason I would listen to podcasts in Spotify is if I happen to have the app open already because I'm listening to music. A list of recently added episodes is available in the mobile applications but not in the Windows desktop app. With Spotify, I have to know ahead of time exactly what I want to listen to and go find it. It's not a good user experience.

WOW! WOW! WOW! I couldn't believe the feature was missing on the PC, but I'm staggared even floored to see that 18+ months later it's still an issue!!

I'm not sure if the UX-specialists of the Windows app at Spotify ever listen to Podcasts, it's nearly functional. I have to do the same thing as you, or use the home dash "New episodes" short list, which pops up or not irrationally. As the app likes to mix up the lists it presents on the dash.  It makes absolutely no sense. Just copy/paste the 'New Episode' playlist from the android app and it's fixed. Why does it take Spotify years to streamline app functionality cross platform. At the same time it's pushing 'My Episodes' throughout the app, which is a semi-useless sublist.
