Problem - spotify "shuts down" on sound system but not on laptop.

I need help with the following situation: 

I attach my laptop (playing spotify) to my sound system.

The sound comes out beautifully.

THEN, after about 10 minutes, the sound system no longer plays spotify.

Spotify continues to play on the laptop, but oh so softly.  

Then I return to my laptop, hit the mousepad, and it goes back through the sound system again, only to repeat this process every 10 minutes or so.

This ONLY happens when using spotify.

This DOES NOT happen when I'm streaming The Great Courses or any other streaming source, both of which go from laptop to sound system with no shut down or interruption.

 

Help!

I'd need more information on this. 🙂

For instance, what is the name/model of your soundsystem, and how do you connect your laptop to it.

 

Also, I suggest reinstalling Spotify, maybe it's a problem with your installation.

 

You can also try using the web player to connect to the soundsystem and see how that behaves.

Thank you for the help. But, as I already knew, I'm not the sharpest knife
in the drawer when it comes to technology. What I ended up doing was going
to the "sleep" settings and altering those. So, instead of whatever
default it was, I made it "sleep" after three hours.

Thanks again. This seems to be the fix I need. Although if there is a
deeper problem, I might have to take your suggestion.

I'm glad you found a fix! The sleep settings for the screen or the computer itself can indeed affect Spotify Connect.
