Random friends disappearing from Friend Activity feed

Earlier, before I closed Spotify to restart my computer, I saw one of my friends was active. Now I reopened Spotify, and I see that same friend's activity no longer being shown anymore. The same thing happened the other day with another friend I'm following. Their activity stopped being shown even though they had recently listened to music. I can see that particular friend's activity now though.

What is the explanation for this? Are they turning off the setting to show their activity, and then deciding to turn it back on??

Just as heads up, users that you follow must have Share my listening activity on Spotify enabled in the app settings to be seen in your Friend Feed, they should also be listening on Spotify through the native app itself rather than using Spotify Connect. 
 

If all of these conditions are met, try the following to see if your Friend Feed works properly:

1. Different device
2. Different internet connection
3. Reinstall the app
4. Restart your device
