Reverting to an older version.

In the latest update Spotify have removed another feature. This time it's the full release date of tracks; now it shows the year only.

This is a deal-breaker for me. As a compiler of a new release playlist I need this information. So I have to revert to an older version.

I know how to do this (and if anyone doesn't google Reddit Older Version Spotify). My question is: does this method still work? I get the Update Available. Please Restart. message. If I restart will it update? And if so does anyone know how to stop it? Of course, if there's no way I just won't restart, that's all.
