Search Bar is no longer visible at top

My Question or Issue

I can no longer see the search bar at the top of the screen. Instead, I have to click search to display it. Surely this isn't intentional? That would seriously degrade functionality. It feels like a mobile app on desktop because of this.

It certainly seems intentional, which is very unfortunate. The latest update is basically making the desktop version a big version of the mobile version, which is stupid. For now, I've just rolled back to the February update when they treated desktop like it was for desktops.
