My Question or Issue
The "Show desktop overlay when using media keys" preferences toggle works correctly only for music, where it correctly removes the annoying media overlay on Windows, but it does not work for podcasts. When playing a podcast, the media overlay will still show when adjusting volume, even though the preference toggle is set to disabled.
Fix it.
Hey @Rawalanche,
Thanks for posting.
Could you let us know if the issue persists after running a clean reinstall on your device? This step lets you start afresh with the latest app version by removing any corrupted files from previous installations. Note that we recommend installing the app version from the Microsoft Store as it's the one best optimized for Windows 10.
Keep us posted on how it goes.
Yes, the issue persist after clean reinstall.
FIX IT!

Hey @Rawalanche ,
Thanks for your patience while we looked into this.
Can you confirm that there are no pending Windows updates for your device? It's also a good idea to make sure that the app has all permissions enabled and is excluded from any battery or storage optimization services.
Keep us posted how things work out.
Hi there, i have a similliar issue with the media keys too, in my case media keys wouldn't work *while spotify is unfocused* , after disabling "Show desktop overlay when using media keys" the media keys would work fine if my Spotify is unfocused, i have tried doing a clean reinstall of Spotify but the issue would still persist with the settings earlier enabled
