Sporify is reeaaly laggy on PC-app and Android despite high end devices

Sporify is reeaaly laggy on PC-app and Android despite high end devices

BOTH devices: When playing a song it takes at 2+ seconds for it to start 30% of the time. When skipping forward in tracks it can take up to 10 seconds for it to start playing. Both apps are up to date and I have tried to reinstall both the PC and Andorid app but that did not change anything.
PC: litterally unusable. The app also takes more than 5 seconds to load, 10 more seconds to select my first song and then a couple more seconds to start playing the song. All this while CPU, RAM and network usage is low.
And:The only thing that made the app somewhat useful was to set my spotify app to data saver so it doesn't load uneccesairy videos etc, despite this having wokred flawlessly at launch.

Addition: My wifi is 100/100mbit and has good stability and never drops beklow 80 mbit/s. 
Also, art loads reaaly slowly on PC.

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be happy to investigate this for you. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Do you have issues on the webplayer too? Try testing this on both devices.
  • When did this start happening?
  • The exact makes, models and OS/Firmware versions of all your affected devices
  • The exact Spotify Versions you use.
  • If possible, try logging in with a different account and see if that makes a difference. You can use the account of someone you know or make a new one.
  • Test if the behaviour is the same across different networks. On Android, try both mobile data and various Wi-Fi networks. You can try making a hotspot for the PC with your phone if the PC can use Wi-Fi too.

Let us know how it goes.

  • Do you have issues on the webplayer too? No, web player works fine
  • When did this start happening? Couple of months back. Maybe 6 months ago the app started to load really slowly. 
  • The exact makes, models and OS/Firmware versions of all your affected devices. PC: Microsoft Surface Studio with  i5-11300H running Windows 11, version 23H2. Android: Asus Zenfone 9 265GB 8GB-RAM running Android 14
  • The exact Spotify Versions you use: Version 1.247.364.0
  • If possible, try logging in with a different account and see if that makes a difference. You can use the account of someone you know or make a new one. Cant really bother tbh. If you dont have any solutions i might try it

Could you please do the aforementioned test using a different account? This is so that we can isolate if the root cause is with the account or something else within the configuration.

Hi! 

On PC: 

I made a completely new account and still have about 1s delay from when I chose a a song that i can skip forward on the track and the overall experience is still bad. 

Its better, but not great. Idk if it is my large nusic libbary on spotify that makes it worse but it honestly feels as if spotify is terrible now. 
On Android: 

It now works fine and had acceptable delays. I have a huge libary (6000+ liked songs). But since i have a family account i do not want to change accounts. + all my stats and everything will be gone.

this is me on my new account. Didnt realize it switched here as well as in my spotify app on PC.

If there's still a delay with the new account on PC and as you mentioned that on Android it works fine and has acceptable delays, then the issue is more-likely not account-related and it's possible that this is caused by the network connection. But you also mentioned that the Web Player works fine, so this is very odd behavior.

 

Do any of your family members also experience delays? 

 

Just to be on the safe side, I recommend giving Spotify a more detailed clean reinstall both on the PC and phone with the steps here.

 

After that, it'd be great if you could test once again both with your old and new accounts on both devices and with different internet connections.
