Hi, I discovered a bug in the Desktop Applications that Spotify Radio or Autoplay will not work if there are duplicates on the playlist. I have tested this on Windows 10 Desktop and Mac OS Mojave. The android version seems unaffected. Removing the duplicate does not do anything until you reboot Spotify.


Test Methodology:
[Working]

1. Open Spotify application.

2. Have a playlist with no duplicates.
3. Right click on playlist > Go to playlist radio.
Spotify successfully opens Playlist radio screen.
Close Spotify.

[Not Working]
1. Open Spotify application.
2. Have a playlist with no duplicates.
3. Add duplicate to playlist.
4. Right click on playlist > Go to playlist radio.
Spotify displays This radio station cannot be started. Please try something else.
5. Remove duplicate track from playlist.
6. Right click on playlist > Go to playlist radio.
Spotify displays This radio station cannot be started. Please try something else.
7. Restart Spotify application.
8. Right click playlist > Go to playlist radio.
Spotify successfully opens Playlist radio screen

What is the version of Spotify app you see this issue happening in?

I don't see this issue on my Win10. Have you tried reinstalling the apps yet? It could be a client-side issue that just affects two systems at once. 🙂

 

Also, the walkthrough requires permission to access.

Fixed the video link!

You have to fully close Spotify first. Do not click Go to Spotify Radio yet. Head to the playlist, add a duplicate song and then right click Go to spotify radio. You will hit the radio station cannot be started screen.

Additionally, try using the autoplay feature by falling off the end of the playlist after adding a duplicate.

Yes I have tried reinstalling 🙂

Happens on Mac OSX Spotify - 1.1.26.501.gbe11e53b

and Windows 1.1.26.501.gbee11e53b.
