Spotify Windows 10 - Repeated "Installation"

Spotify Windows 10 - Repeated "Installation"

Every time I launch spotify on Windows (or almost every time) I get an "installing Spotify" dialog which disappears after a few moments.

This completely screws the user experience by adding unnecessary friction and I've seen it happening for years, only on Windows.

What's it doing? Updating? Some bug causing it to reinstall certain components?

Happy to provide debug logs if someone can point me to them

I am seeing the same issue.  Not every time I start the Windows 10 program, but regularly.

If this is just the program checking for updates or applying updates then the wording of the message should changed to stop confusion.

Hey there folks,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

It sounds like your Spotify is trying to install an update but it is not working for whatever reason. We'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. A clean reinstall is a bit different than just deleting the app and installing it again, it includes the deletion of a few extra files which might cause such errors. Check out this guide for the exact steps.

In case that doesn't do the trick, have a look at the solutions mentioned in this thread and see if that makes a difference for you 🙂

Let us know how it goes.
