My Question or Issue

whenever i use spotify, around every 20-30 minutes my spotify will play a repeating 2 seconds on whatever it got glitched on, completely brick my game, and wont stop unless i force stop spotify. and by brick i mean absolutely crash my computer, drops my responsive time on my computer to like 2 seconds, i try moving my mouse and it slowly jitters in the direction im moving it all while repeating the same 2 seconds of the song. iv tried all i could find. updating drivers, updating keyboard firmware, disabling hardware accel, reinstalling spotify, and nothing has fixed it.

hey! i was able to solve the issue. i was currently using norton antivirus for my computer, and noticed i was having these issues right when i downloaded the antivirus. after uninstalling, my music both no longer stops for a couple seconds like its trying to load and no longer crashes my computer. your suggestion to it coinciding with other updates gave me the idea it was my antivirus.

thanks for the help joan 😄

Hi there @Gabemundale,

Thanks for reaching out. If you haven't tried a full clean reinstall as shown here, please do so. If that doesn't resolve the issue, could you please provide us the following:

  • When did this start happening? Did this coincide with an update to the app or Windows?
  • What kind of games are affected by this? Are all of your games affected? Are any other programs showing degraded performance?
  • Does the app behave as expected when using it normally?
  • If possible, whenever the issue occurs, can you try to open Task Manager and grab a screenshot of the CPU and RAM usage and how much of that is coming from Spotify.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

In the last few months every time I startup FS22 Spotify decides that it's time to die. I have to manually relaunch it.
I have done a clean reinstall, My antivirus is not the cause (That was a long road) , and I have even made Spotify priority.

My Question or Issue
After i upgraded my Screen to a bigger Screen (2K) i also turned up my Visual Settings ingame (Destiny 2). Everytime i wanted to Tab into the Spotify App Window my PC froze for 10 seconds and when i changed my song etc and returned to my game it froze again. That was annoying but recently my PC just straight up crashed. I already tried to change the Hardware Acceleration settings multiple times, nothing changed. I tried playing the songs in Offline mode so that spotify cant stream the songs, but still the same issue. Ive seen multiple reports and tried almost all of the proposed solutions but until now none of them worked.

My Question or Issue:

Yesterday out of nowhere my spotify started bugging out while playing a game. The Spotify client was very laggy/glitchy things took ages to load and when i'm clicking on songs or home page it like freezes etc. The audio is the worst part though. It's like i'm getting distorted sounds also the songs go slower and make all the audio from my PC bug too, like my in-game sound. I closed the app and went on youtube and everything was fine. All the audio is fine except for when i start the app and try to listen to the music. Web Spotify is also fine after trying a moment ago. I've reinstalled the client 3 times, once on the web and 2 times through microsoft store. Also cleared my cache and tried to turn the hardware acceleration off. When im restarting the app it looks like an unoptimized site. The sidebar loads first but slowly and then the homepage loads in after 5 sec of 3 dots appearing on the screen. This issue never happened before. Spotify on my phone also works perfect.

same problem. I tought my pc was dying or i didn't have my audio drivers updated, it happens every time i restart the application and go to home. also the covers of the albums that were supposed to show a short vid of the song isn't showing a vid anymore, it only remains in black

in my case i have a razer headset that uses 7.1 surround sound app, if i desactivate it the audio glitch sound disappears but obviously i'd rather hearing the music and everything like 7.1

in my case it takes a few seconds to get back to normal (the sound) but the vids are not being shown

I had exactly the same problem with my Razer Blackshark v2, downloading an older version of Spotify resolved it. (it was a version from October)
Hope this helps

My issue resolved on its own after hard restarting my PC instead of just casually restarting it. I also looked at task manager for any spikes but found nothing. Still have no clue what caused it to glitch in that way though.

Nvm, it's back

Hey there folks,

Thanks for raising this on the Community!

Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you make sure that you're running the latest app version? Another option is to try a clean reinstall (if you haven't already), as this will ensure you're running the latest version, as well as clear stored cache.

If the issue persists, it would be great if you could let us know the following, so that we can look into this further with our teams:

  • The make & model of your device.
  • Your device's OS version.
  • Exact Spotify version.
  • Any troubleshooting steps that you've tried (clear cache, another network connection, clean reinstall, temporarily switch off antivirus, etc.)
  • If you've noticed that this happens at any specific points.
  • A video showing how things look from your end, if possible.

Should the files be too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us as unlisted YouTube videos or via Google Drive. Just make sure it doesn't include any personal info.

We'll keep an eye out for your replies!

Hi,

So i did everything you asked, and the issue remains.

  • The make & model of your device. ==> Windows desktop
  • Your device's OS version. ==> Windows 10 pro
  • Exact Spotify version. ==> Latest version Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
    1.2.51.345.gcc39d911
  • Any troubleshooting steps that you've tried (clear cache, another network connection, clean reinstall, temporarily switch off antivirus, etc.) ==> Tried them all
  • If you've noticed that this happens at any specific points. ==> Yes, for example when the music is working fine and i'm in my liked library but want to switch to homepage. As soon as i click on the homepage the same laggy buggy sound start to play. In the clip the music is working fine because i can fix it temporary but the issue still remains. https://youtu.be/FafyXPUOtXY

Hey @Prxtector,

Thanks for getting back to us with all this info 🙂

@Gabemundale, @SalixWusky if any of you are still experiencing the issue, make sure to provide all the info that has been previously requested so we can forward the reports to the relevant teams.

Keep us posted!

Main Issue

I'm having an issue that occured recently. Whenever I want to use my headphones (Razer Blackshark V2) to listen to music, the sound either doesn't play at all or is all distorted for a random duration.

Steps to recreate the problem are as followed: Starting the PC with my headphones set to default, starting spotify, trying to play a song but there is no sound, switching sound devices then the song suddenly works, selecting my headphones again and the song still plays, seconds after it all gets laggy and distorted.

Weirdly enough only spotify is affected, all other programs work flawlessly regarding audio or the software used for my headphones including various acitvated enhancements.

Things I have done to resolve the issue:
-Reinstalling Spotify (including emptying cache, resets, deactivating hardware-acc. etc.)

-Reinstalling all audio drivers including my headphones audio software

-Trying to turn off any audio enhancements

-Default spotify settings

Weirdly enough, one thing that worked for me is to create a completely new account and use it for the spotify software. No problems, but when I use my main old account issues as described pop up again. How can an account affect local software or hardware assiociated issues??
