My Question or Issue

Recently my desktop Spotify app has been unable to play songs that aren't on a playlist or that aren't saved. If I restart or reinstall Spotify it works normally for a few hours, but it goes back to being unable to play unsaved songs pretty quickly. I checked the hosts file to see if that was the issue but as far as I can tell that's not the problem. Any solutions to this issue would be greatly appreciated as I can't find any solutions on the community boards that work.

The troubleshooting steps you've tried so far are very good. We'd like to add a few more.

 

Can you try these steps and run a clean reinstall? This one is more thorough than the usual reinstall. You can also download Spotify from the Microsoft store.

 

If that doesn't help, you can try running the app as an administrator. Are there any changes?

 

If the issue persists, you can try with another account. That way we can check if it's an account-related issue.
