My Question or Issue
Short and simple version; Was listening to music just fine. Got a new piece of software that required PC to restart. PC also updated during restart. Now no music plays. ANY. AT ALL
Things I've tried
(Crossfade is off, not in offline mode)
-Change audio output device
-Disable hardware acceleration
-Delete local files cache
-Reinstall Spotify (counts as re-log)
-Wipe local files cache again
-Listening on my phone works, but when I connect it to the PC, music immediately stops.
-Double check that a "clean" reinstall of Spotify is completed
-Run Spotify as an administrator
-Rage quit and file a ticket
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hey there @thevoidcallsme,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community about this.
We appreciate you sending us all the steps that you've already tried to solve this.
Here are a few other things you can try:
Disable any antivirus or ad-blocking software that might be affecting the app, and turn off VPN if in use.
Remove host files. Head here to find out how.
Try accessing the web player before re-attempting to log back in to the desktop client to see if that makes any difference.
Make sure your sound drives are up to date.
In case the issue persists, it'd be great if you could let us know your Spotify version.
Any screenshots you can provide will also be helpful to identify what's causing the issue.
Keep us in the loop and let us know if you have any questions.
Elena,
Thank you for getting back to me. The only virus/ad blocker software I currently have is Windows defender, which I have double checked that Spotify has full permissions to go through. I additionally looked into the host files and found nothing related to Spotify or "fastly." Then I accessed the web player, which worked fine until I accessed my sound settings to check the driver version. Now neither the web player nor the desktop app play any music.
Spotify version: 1.1.52.687.gf5565fe5
Hi @thevoidcallsme,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Could you try disabling and re-enabling all audio devices through Windows?
Let us know if you notice any difference.
