Hey folks!
This app behaviour is quite odd. The issue being related to the account also seems a bit off.
Although creating a new one fixes things up, I'd like us to have a deeper look into this and what's causing it.
In my opinion this might somehow have something to do with the app's cached data, related to the account.
To see if this is the case, please remove your cached data by following the steps here.
In case this doesn't help, see if going for a complete clean reinstall of the app would make a difference.
Lastly, in case the issue persists even after this, try creating a new free account for testing purposes.
Log in with it and see if the issue would be present on it as well.
We'd also appreciate it if you shared with us a few details so that we can report this to our tech teams backstage. We'd need:
Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂
Same here, nothing's working!!! So annoying!
I'm having the same issue. I even uninstalled, reinstalled etc and still the same thing.
Same here I noticed my music quieter than normal and just realised that the windows audio slider keeps moving
Hey folks!
Thanks for reaching out 🙂
I'd check if the Volume Mixer or Sound settings aren't altered in any way. To do so:
Right click on the speaker system tray icon and select Volume Mixer:
If this looks ok, go back to right-clicking the speaker icon and select Sound Settings.
Go to Sound -> Advanced Sound options:
See how the Spotify app settings look like:
If all goes well these settings should help out! If not, please let us know if adjusting the app volume via Ctrl + up/down arrows would make a difference.
Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

Hey folks!
Could you let us know which slider you're referring to?
Is it the one under Sound Settings -> Advanced sound options (right-click on the speaker system tray icon), is it the Volume Mixer or something else?
A screenshot or a link to a video recording would be of help!
Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

Hey, so the issue was resolved after contacting spotify staff, it turns out my account was causing the bug (Not sure why). So I had to make a new one and the staff ported over all my songs and playlists. I'll attach the images for reference relating to the issue.
Sorry I replied below, I'm new to this 😂
Hey, thanks for advice! The volume mixer looks normal, but the Spotify volume mixer doesn't change the volume either. I tried going to the advanced sound settings and adjusting the volume from there, but nothing changed once again. I switched the default preset to my audio device and that didn't seem to change anything either. I also tried using the Ctrl + up/down arrows, but it also just adjusted the volume bar, and not the actual volume. What I did find though, is that the Spotify web player works normally, but it's just the app that seems to be buggy.
Hello, I made a short video that shows this bug in detail:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs7vsQuPZKQ
In it, you can clearly see that when you lower spotify volume it messes up with volume mixer, so if you put your spotify at 50% volume, the volume mixer will set it at almost 0% and you can't even ear the music at all. This only happens with windows app, spotify volume on browsers works with no problem.
I have the same issue. The bug started to behave sometime this week. I don't know what I can do. I guess I need help with this.
So I have always had my speakers/headphones set to 50 and all other sounds set to 100 and I adjust the in app volume sliders or if watching something on youtube adjust the volume sliders etc there
Since the other day, I went to increase the slider in the spotify app slightly and then it adjusted my overall windows volume, but it went down to barely nothing and visa versa
This is exactly what's happening with mine
Thanks for the update @Pognu.
If it's still not working then I recommend deleting the app and following the steps for a clean reinstall here. They're a bit more detailed and include clearing the cache which often helps with different performance issues.
After that, download the app either from the Microsoft Store here or from our website (whichever version you weren't using so far) in order to test if it'll make any difference.
Keep us posted and if the issue persists, we'll see what we can suggest 🙂

Exact same thing started happening to me within the last week (at least that's when I noticed it). Using desktop app:
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.42.290.g242057a2
Windows 10 Home
Version 10.0.19045
I'm not 100% certain if it started right after an update, but I suspect it must have, because I suddenly started having a swathe of other issues, as well.
When the issue started happening I already did the above steps of clearing the cache, uninstalling/reinstalling the app (not the windows version, downloaded app directly from spotify)
My device is Windows 11
Spotify app version is 1.2.42.290
1.2.42.290.g242057a2
It started 3 days ago for me.
my issue im having is every time i try to adjust the volume in the desktop app it immediately changes the app volume in the volume mixer to 2%, unless i crank up the volume on the volume slider within spotify to 100%.
Same thing is happening to me for the past 2 days
:
Spotify app version 1.2.42.290.g242057a2
Windows 11
