Every time I shut downWindows 7 x64 (on a fast computer), I get a message saying that Spotify prevents Windows from shutting down. If I manually tries to exit Spotify, it takes just a few milliseconds, so that should not be the problem.
Is it possible to make Spotify automatically exit when Windows shuts down?

Not anymore.
Works fine now!.
Since last night at least..
It still is a problem on my Windows 7 with ver 1.0.41.375.g040056ca.
Very annoing problem.
Sptotify version: 1.0.41.375.g040056ca
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 x64
HP ZBook 15
This has been a problem for me for months.
1.0.41.375.g040056ca
Windows 7 Home premium
Sad that it's still happening for many people including me.
I found a way to forcefully (automatically) close it in Windows 7.
Too bad Spotify can't be bothered to look into it further themselves.
Windows 7 force close on shutdown solution:
Run -> gpedit.msc
Windows settings
Scripts
Shutdown
Right click -> Properties
Add -> Name: closespotify
Parameters: taskkill /im Spotify.exe /f
This closes any Spotify.exe process forcefully on shutdown.
Sucks we have to use this solution, but Spotify has not provided a solution after over a year.
Thank you for answer but it is not problem curretly because I stopped to use the app because of bigger spotify problem. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Major-I-O-write-bytes-on-the-Spotify-Desktop-app-It-...
