My Question or Issue

Noticed that a process named spotify.exe was scanning all my file including the NTFS Master file table (MFT). Stopped when i uninstalled Spotify app from windows 10. Why are the application scanning all my files. this is extremely suspicious and lead me to believe i had a malware accessing my files.

Hey there @krise86,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community!

This might happen when the app is looking for Local Files in your device. To stop this scanning process, go to Settings > Local Files > Show Local Files (if it's toggled off, toggle it on, then make sure all sources are disabled) > toggle off Show Local Files again.

This should stop the app from scanning for Local Files on your computer.

Keep us posted on how it goes. We'll be on the lookout.

This doesn't work. Almost 4 years later and you still haven't fixed this. I'm very close to switching to a new service. You need to fix this ASAP and stop violating your user's privacy.
