Spotify won't play through my laptops HDMI port

Spotify won't play through my laptops HDMI port

PC app on Windows 10 works fine if I'm playing a song through my laptops speakers or the aux port but if I try to use it through my laptops HDMI cable to my reciever I get "This song is not available. If you have the file on your computer you can import." message. every.single time. I've gone to my PC's audio settings and made sure the proper playback device was selected, I've tried changing audio formats in the playback device settings. Nothing I've tried works and I get that same message every time.Of note....I get sound via my laptops HDMI with every application on my PC with no hassles (itunes, my web browser, video apps, etc etc) Spotify is the only one that refuses to comply for whatever reason using it. Help!

Hey @modernkicks!

Have you tried restarting Spotify after changing to HDMI output?
I know the desktop client has an array of issues when switching audio channels... Not sure if anymore, but it's worth a try.

Quietly wondering if open.spotify.com, the browser Spotify, also has such errors coming up...

Anyhow, let me know how it goes!

It's the last day of 2021 and this is still an issue.
