When I open SpotifyInstaller.exe, nothing but a error appears saying "SpotifyInstaller has stopped working". I never had this problem before, but after the new update, I can't even open the installer.

Hi there!

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps. If that didn't help I'd recommend using this post's steps to do a more thorough clean of Spotify.

Could you also try it on another user account on your PC to see if that helps?

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

I'll see what I can suggest next!

Tried everything you told me to do, but still not working.

I don't know the exact version of Spotify, but probably is the last version released to it, since I downloaded directly from the Spotify website.

The version of my operating system is Windows 7 Professional.

Hey @user-removed,

Have you tried performing these steps from Safe Mode?

Does this happen if you try it with another internet connection?

Please let me know 🙂

Just tried in Safe Mode a few moments ago, still not working.

It probably has nothing to do with internet, but the PC in general.

Hey @user-removed,

I see. I guess even on the new account that didn't work, or you haven't tried it yet?

Have you tried running the app in Compitability Mode? Try downloading the installer again from this site. Are all the latest updates installed from Windows Update?

Make sure you've removed any leftover of Spotify, from the AppData folders, clean the Temporary files folder in AppData>Local>Temp.

Also, if any registry entries of Spotify exist make sure to delete them (Access Windows Registry by opening Run and typing regedit on the search field).

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Hi,

Same here. Tried all the steps above:

-Directory cleanup after uninstall

-Registry cleanup

-Safe mode

-Compatibility mode

No antivirus on the computer... I found an ancient 5 years old full installer which works fine while a bit outdated..

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

David

Hey @gratzerd,

Could you try updating from the old installer within the app to see if that helps?

Could you try installing Spotify for Windows 10 from Windows Store? Use this link.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Hi,

There is no upgrade function in the old 0.9x version.

I tried to run the setup and full setup package, same error message.

Version 1. A new windows update cause it

Version 2. Something changed in the Spotify installer in the last few months.

Thank you,

David

Hey @gratzerd,

Could you try the Windows Store version I suggested previously?

Thanks 🙂

Sorry, I missed that point.

This is a win7_64, there is no store (as I know) on this version.

Thanks

David
