It's been over two years since I had first seen this issue addressed. It has been at least that long since I had last brought it up. And yet, there has been no change in this disparity between the mobile app and the desktop app. It is absolutely unacceptable that I cannot Dislike a song that I never want to hear again. Instead, the song will just get repeatedly put into the generated playlists because it just ends up getting played again and added to the algo as positive reinforcement.

There is absolutely zero reason that this particular feature isn't available on the desktop app. Even if I mark as a song as "hidden" or dislike it on the mobile app, playing the exact same playlist from the desktop will just cause the song to play. This is horrible, terrible functionality.

Fix you stuff. Be better.

Hi there @rathizard,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and for your feedback.

Currently, the way the Hide this song feature works is that it blocks a certain track from the specific playlist on the current device. For an example, the way that Release Radar is set up is that it gets renewed every Friday and counts as a new playlist. Because of this, the songs that you had hidden in the last week might still appear in the new one.

We understand that things can feel frustrating when things don't work as you'd like them to. Rest assured that we're always trying to improve as we always strive to improve our features to satisfy all of our users.

Let us know if we can help you with anything else.

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Well that's not the answer I was looking for. There was always a feature to permanently block a song (and not just from a playlist, but account-wide) and I really miss that feature.

I have disliked several songs in my daily mix. Every day I open daily mix and these disliked songs not only appear in the playlist ( they’re greyed out and have a red icon- but the songs STILL PLAY regardless!?

Hey @GrantyJ,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Let's start with a clean reinstall of the app on your device, so we can be sure we're dealing with a fresh installation of Spotify. Here is how to do it

We'd also need screenshots on how things look on your end so we can understand the issue better. Do you mind sharing some screenshots of your experience?

Which devices are affected? We'd like to know their brand/model and operating system.

Also make sure to familiarize yourself with the reply from @Jeremy, where he describes how this function is intended to work.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Did a fresh install, as per instructions.

issue occurs when playing music through Amazon echo dot 3

When listening / playing on mobile, the hidden/disliked song is not played (as one would expect)

When playback is via echo the hidden/disliked song IS played - see attached screenshot

Hey @GrantyJ,

Thanks for your reply and screenshot.

We're not sure if this is not to be expected, as you are using the app to stream in combination with a third-party device. Keep in mind that those devices have their own app which handles our API (utilizes the features of our app) according to how it was programed and interpreted by the manufacturer's developers and therefore different experiences might occur. However we're still willing to investigate the situation together some more, although the support of those devices is to be managed by their manufacturer.

Could you share with us what's the make, model and OS version of the mobile device that you're using to connect to your Echo Dot 3? Also please include the exact version of your Spotify app, as this will help greatly for our investigation and eventual replication of this behavior.

We'll be keeping an eye out for your reply, thanks!

Hey, here are the settings and versions

Spotify version 8.7.30.1342

IOS 15.4.1 installed on iPhone 11

again to highlight and clarify the issue- if I play daily mix 1 on my headphones, the hidden songs do not play, and life is good

BUT if I play Spotify using an echo device and play the same daily mix, those hidden songs DO play

Hey @GrantyJ,

Thanks for the reply with the data.

We can confirm, that this is the expected behavior of the app as the smart speaker can't access the data on which songs are disliked.

If there is a Bluetooth connection involved, the disliked songs will not play on other devices. Same goes for Connect, but with Connect it also depends on specific device setups.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!
