I would like to install spotify as a traditional program and NOT from the store. But it just converted himself to a store installation and if I download the installer from the spotify website I still get a store installation.
How do I get the original spotify back?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Sander
In my pc running windows 10 I have spotify app but it does not count as a "store app". I believe you can disable windows store and try reinstalling the spotify app from the spotify software.
Hey TheBrickSlayer,
Thanks for your response!
Since version 1511 of Windows 10 you can no longer disable the windows store. So that is unfortunately not going to work. Is there maybe a way to tell the Spotify installer to install the regular one?
Kind regards,
Sander
**bleep**, that's kinda sad to hear. Can you try to do a clean installation of spotify and after that (in the advance settings) chane the location of the cache in c:/Spotify?
Let me know 🙂
No the installer doesn't even ask for anything anymore. When you run it, it doesn't even need UAC admin rights. It just shows an installer progress bar and then it opens, fully installed as an windows 10 app.
I hate it when software takes over control....
Even if you can take control of what's going on, maybe this will help you out.

It may be a work-around creating a new rule only for spotify
I tried using these solutions but I am afraid these also do not work. I am running windows 10 Pro and these solutions only work for the enterprise version. I tried them non the less but it didn't work.
I guess I just have to live with it and hope Spotify will change this somewhere in the future. And hopefully other developers do not follow this example....
Thanks for your help 🙂
Download an older version of Spotify. I've had to do the same thing as the Windows Store app doesn't load whatever I try, it's completely broken.
