My Question or Issue

Hi! I’m having a persistent issue with the Spotify Windows app.

The app opens normally, but I can’t play anything inside channels, podcasts or playlists.
The play button is blocked, the mouse cursor changes to a “not allowed” icon when I hover over any episode or track, and clicking does nothing.

 

However, the strange part is this:
I can play only the content displayed at the top of the Home screen (like “new episodes” or “recently added”), where there’s a green play button. Those play normally. Everything else is completely unclickable.

 

What I’ve already tried (none of these worked):

Full restart of the app

Logging out and back in

“Log out everywhere” from my account page

Clearing cache (AppData and LocalAppData)

Reinstalling the app (Microsoft Store)

Disabling hardware acceleration

Resetting Spotify Connect and disconnecting all devices

 

The issue persists every time:
Inside any channel or podcast page, I cannot click play on anything. The play icon doesn’t respond, and the cursor shows as blocked.

 

Web Player works perfectly.
Only the Windows desktop app is affected.

Could you try logging in to another account in the desktop app and see if the issue persists, or is isolated to your account?

 

Since you mentioned the Microsoft Store, I'd recommend a clean install using this guide, then installing the app from the official website.
