Windows Spotify.exe login problem (again)

This happens every couple months with some update and I do not know what unnatural process is required to login to the Spotify.exe --- there is NO reason that logging in to an application is not standardized.  At one point, I thought that I had to use my spotify ID number. 

I have tried following the steps for various "SOLVED" tickets similar to this to no avail.

I wonder why you keep making this happen to us?  (don't blame it on Facebook or Windows... logging in is a very standard thing using the APIs) please help or I am ditching Spotify for good....

Also, attempting the "Reset Password" link below the login dialog does nothing whatsoever.... that's disappointing.
