can't play songs from artist pages or albums on pc (windows 10)

can't play songs from artist pages or albums on pc (windows 10)

Hey there, I've been having this problem for a long time now, throughout different versions and reinstalling sessions:
When I'm on Spotify on the laptop, I can only play songs from playlists or from the queue. As soon as I want to listen to an artist directly or want to listen to a specific album, I just keep on clicking on a song and nothing happens. That's especially painful when I just discovered a new artist or album and just want to have a listen. I always need to put in in a playlist to make it work.

Anyone bumped into this before?

Thanks for your help!

Hey there! I've seen this problem increasingly appearing. You've stated you've reinstalled, but have you completed a clean install?

This user reported the issue going away when on a different network. Maybe give this a try?

Heya!

Thanks for the reply, I've tried it. Actually, from the steps in the link you sent for a clean install, I have no idea how to do it other than that. I've always just done that: uninstall and reinstall, as it says in the article.
Here's a thread that shows the actual steps for a clean reinstall: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/Windows-clean-reinstall-inconsistent-instructions-i...

So I tried that too and it didn't work, neither with an installation from the official Spotify site, nor from the Microsoft Store. I'll restart and see how it goes.

Networks unfortunately also don't play a role for me, I change networks a lot and it doesn't make a difference.

Anyway, I appreciate your help. Cheers!

Alright, quick update:
I restarted and it still doesn't work. Clean reinstalled again to double check, still not working. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the update!

It appears that this is actually an ongoing issue affecting many users. You can find more information in this thread.

It seems there is no current fix for this problem. The thread linked above has some steps provided to collect logs from your Spotify client, which Spotify devs can use to help fix the problem. I recommend following the steps provided in the Status update section of the thread linked above.

Sorry that I didn't see this Ongoing Issue report before. I hope they're able to get it fixed soon, as it seems like a very annoying problem.

There may be some workarounds that other users have figured out, but there has been no official update. If you're itching for a fix, I recommend searching through that thread.

Good luck!
