clicks and underwater singing with 0.9.12.10

I stupidly allowed an upgrade to proceed for Spotify from version 0.9.10.14 to 0.9.12.0. Now I get annoying loud clicks every few seconds and singing voices sound like they're in an underwater cathedral. How can I go back to the older version which worked perfectly? Or what is the fix for the crap new version?

Make sure to check your inbox and junk folder for an email from Spotify. Once you get it, make sure to reply back right away, even if it says it's from a "no-reply" email. This will assign your case to a Spotify rep and you should hear back within 24 hours.
