When I am playing a current album or playlist, if I browse to a podcast page (https://open.spotify.com/show/4rOoJ6Egrf8K2IrywzwOMk?si=Fc_TQAiGTya2byExDYdlQQ), but do not press play on any episode, it will play the podcast after the current song ends and replace my "Next Up" with the entire list of podcasts.

Hey @pizzicatoiv,

Welcome to the Community, thanks for reaching out about this.

First up, we'd recommend clearing your browser's cache and cookies. You can also make sure that your browser is up to date to ensure you're running it's latest version.

Also, would you mind letting us know if this only happens with the specific podcast you mentioned? Could you send us a screenshot where we can see how the queue appears after you browse the podcast page? Make sure to exclude any personal info from it.

Keep us posted. We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi Mario,

I couldn't reproduce this when you asked but it finally happened again today. I didn't capture the entire use-case in screenshot because I was casually listening to an album and this switched to the podcast on the next track.

This is on the Windows desktop application. I am:

1. Listening to an album

2. I visit a podcast homepage, I don't queue or play a podcast.

3. After the current song, my "Next Up" is is replaced with the entire podcast catalogue.

The only behavior I can get to produce (3) is if I press the green "play" button, but I am certainly not pressing it, queuing does not produce this. Also I tried to reproduce this after it happened and it didn't happen again.

Also this may be due to hand-off from multiple devices (somehow). I switch between my phone and desktop often. I just switched playing from mobile->desktop before this. But couldn't reproduce that as part of the problem either.

Edit: I remember I didn't even click on the episode list, which can be seen in the first screenshot. Because I just wanted to see the latest episode description, then clicked off focus or minimized the application.

Edit edit: I also tried reproducing with minimizing and/or off-focus, but neither of them reproduced the problem. Also I am in the middle of an album, not completed.

Hey @pizzicatoiv,

Thanks for getting back to us with this info.

We recommend you log out everywhere and run a clean reinstall on all your devices, this involves deleting the cache files of the app and will force a account wide resynchronization of your info. You can have a look at this guide for the steps relevant to each device.

If that doesn't fix things, if it's an option - could you borrow a friend or family members account and see if the behavior comes up there as well? Also - could you test if this happens with all podcasts or only the one you mentioned in your first post?

Keep us posted. We’ll keep an eye out for your reply.

Hi Mihail,

I logged out and reinstalled. The problem still persists. Certain podcast pages replace the "current playing" with a list of the page's episodes.

Attached is a podcast page I visited (https://open.spotify.com/show/7BsteEsAVuQZ7hVio6Uibr?si=Ujmoxw24TvSN2sSaDmgiaw) but did not ever play. It replaced my currently playing playlist. This only happens intermittently. I'm not exactly sure the trigger but it is several more than these two examples.

Hi again @pizzicatoiv

Thanks for getting back to us.

Just to confirm, were you able to replicate the issue using a different account?

Also, let us know if the same thing happens when you use the web player.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Hi Novy, I don't have access to another account so I haven't been able to test this.

The issue doesn't seem present on the web player. I've tried to reproduce over many trials. But the problem is also intermittent on the desktop player. On desktop, I can go to the podcast page of xR.fm listed above and now it does not overwrite the currently playing. A third podcast that also overwrote at this moment is not.

Hey @pizzicatoiv

Thanks for your reply!

Not to worry. In this case, you can create a new test account with a different email address here.

If possible, could you check if it also happens when you use a mobile device? We'll keep on investigating.

Keep us posted.

a short update: this is still consistently happening to me on a test account (on Windows desktop app).

I haven't experienced this on either android or iphone mobile apps.

Is any engineer actually looking into this and can reproduce this issue?

Hey @pizzicatoiv

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Would you mind letting us know if you can replicate this behavior using a different internet connection?

It  would also be helpful to have a video where we can take a better look at what's happening.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
