whenever it downloads, it stays a black screen

My Question or Issue

 i updated my windows last night and this morning i was faced with a problem. when i hit the spotify icon on my desktop it takes a while to download. then, when it downloads it displays a black screen with only three dots in the top left corner showing a few playback etc options, none of which work. though this happens all the time, and all i do is close the screen and press the spotify logo again and it loads, this time it displays the same screen no matter what i do. sometimes it even says spotify wont respond. ive already tried deleting and redownloading it only to see its doing the exact same thing.
