Answer:

When thinking of the ways to manage your Liked Songs, one of the most straightforward ideas would be to use the available Sort and Filter options.

On the one hand, you can sort your Liked Songs according to each featured song’s title, artist, album, date (in terms of when it was added to the playlist), and duration. On the other hand, by using the option to filter, you can look up specific songs you might want to listen to without waiting for them to be eventually played as part of your queue.

What is not as straightforward (and often overlooked) is the fact that, aside from using the Sort and Filter options separately, it’s possible to combine them.

By doing so, you can manage your Liked Songs more efficiently and:

  • Display all the songs from a particular artist in alphabetical order

If you’d like to view and display all the songs from one specific artist in alphabetical order, tap Liked Songs > sort by Title > type the name of an artist in the search bar.

  • Spot and remove duplicates

If you sort your Liked Songs by Title and filter the results based on one artist’s name, all the “duplicates” (e.g. same audio with extremely similar or slightly different metadata) from the particular artist will also be displayed so you can remove them from the list.

Sometimes you might find songs that you don't like in your Made for You playlists or you might not like the songs that you're being recommended in the free version of Spotify.

This can happen due to several reasons. If you believe that your music recommendations are not accurate because someone else has gained access to your account, I'd recommend checking out this support article for the next steps to take.

However, if you think that Spotify's recommendations just aren't accurate, I suggest you listen to all of your favorite tunes so you're recommended music similar to the music you like.

On another note, keep in mind that anything you listen to in a private session may not influence your music recommendations.

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions you can ask other users in the Community Help boards.

Your username is designed to identify you on Spotify, so it’s not possible to change it. You can always check your username on your account page. But you don’t need to remember it to log in, just use your email address and password, or Facebook.

During the signup you will get to create a profile name that’s displayed in the app. You can enter your preferred display name in the "What should we call you?" field.

A display name replaces the username where it shows on your profile, app, playlists, and Friend Activity

If you don’t like your display name you can change it following the steps hereIt’s also possible to connect to Facebook to display your Facebook name. But if you add a Spotify display name, it will show instead of your Facebook name.

Note: If your account was created through Facebook and your profile name turned into numbers there's a different Spotify Answer that you can check instead.

You can also upload a profile picture to make your account even more personal.

On mobile and tablet:

  1. Tap Home icon_home.png, then Settings icon_settings.png.
  2. Tap View profile.
  3. Tap EDIT PROFILE.
  4. Tap CHANGE PHOTO.
  5. Select the picture you want to use.

On Desktop:

  1. Click your Profile in the top-right corner of the desktop app.
  2. Hover over your profile picture and click Change.
  3. Select the picture you want to use.

Answer:

There's a couple of different reasons why you could be seeing this happen on your Spotify account. We've explained them below, along with what some troubleshooting steps you can try.

If you notice songs unexpectedly added on your Liked Songs:

It's possible that you've linked your Spotify account with a third party app that could be adding new songs from your favorite artists when they become available. In this case, it would be a good idea making sure to revoke access to any third party apps you don't recognize or no longer need with the steps mentioned here

Tip: when integrating Spotify with a third-party app, always double check the permissions it allows before linking.

If you're still having troubles, we'd recommend making sure to follow the steps provided in this support site article, including reaching out to our support teams so that they can look into this for you.

If you're on free and notice songs added on playlists you've created:

Spotify Free can help you find new music we think you'll love. That means we’ll continue to suggest tracks and artists for your playlists as you create and edit them. The more you listen, the better the suggestions will become.

Further, if you have less than 15 songs in your Liked Songs, we'll add more songs. You will see a message telling you that the extra songs were added by us, but they can be replaced by adding more songs.

For more info on stopping these suggestions, we'd recommend taking a look at this Spotify Answer.

If you're on Premium and see artists or albums showing up below artists you follow or albums you've saved:

With the new Your Library update, we introduced Album and Artists recommendations. These will appear at the bottom of the Album and Artist tabs in Your Library.

The suggestions are based on the songs and albums you've liked but no worries! They shouldn't be added in Your Library unless you click the heart icon (for albums) or follow the recommended artists.

Yes, it's possible to stream all your favorite tunes and podcasts on your Chromebook. You can do this by either using the Spotify Web Player or by installing the Android version of Spotify.

Currently we don't have an official Chromebook app yet so we recommend using the Web Player which is similar to the full desktop version of Spotify.

Alternatively you can install the latest Android version of Spotify. This Spotify version is made for mobile devices so it's not only compact but it packs some extra features over the Web Player.

FAQ

Q: How do I access the Web Player on my Chromebook?

A: You can access the Web Player by using this link: play.spotify.com

Q: How do I install the Android version of Spotify on my Chromebook?

Spotify stores songs on your devices' cache. This enables the music to start immediately after pressing Play. The amount of music stored in the cache shouldn't keep growing as new songs replace stored songs that haven't been listened to for a while. The more songs you have saved for Offline use, the more space your cache will take up however.

FAQ

Q: The Spotify app is taking up many GB's of storage, how can free-up space?

A: On mobile devices you can clear your cache when you find that your cache is growing quite large. Here's how:

Android:

  1. Tap Home.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to Storage, and select Delete cache.
  4. Tap Delete cache.

iOS:

  1. On the home screen, tap and hold the Spotify icon until it shakes.
  2. Tap the X symbol on the icon.
  3. Restart your device
  4. Open the App Store then search for and install the Spotify Music app.

Q: Can I change the location where my music is being stored?

A: It's possible to change the location where your music is stored. If your Android device supports an SD card, you can choose to have the music stored there. On a Desktop computer you can change the location as well. Here's how to change the storage location on Android and Desktop:

Android:

  1. Tap Home.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Other, then Storage.
  4. Select where you want to save your downloaded music.
  5. Tap OK. The transfer takes a few minutes, depending on the size of your library. You can still listen to Spotify as normal during the transfer. Spotify restarts afterwards.

Desktop:

  1. Click the arrow next to your username in the top-right corner of the desktop app and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down and click SHOW ADVANCED SETTINGS.
  3. Scroll down to Offline songs storage to see where your cache is stored.
  4. Click CHANGE LOCATION to store your cache somewhere else.

Note: On iOS devices you can't change the storage location.

Q: I'm still experiencing an issue, what can I do?

A: For all other things we recommend resetting your cache by performing a clean reinstall on the affected device. Keep in mind that you'll need to re-download all your offline songs once you've done this.

1. Content that violates our Platform Rules

If you need to report content on Spotify that you think might violate our Platform Rules or be illegal, you can take a look at this article

a. Podcast, audiobook, playlist, or artist name

You can report any podcast, audiobook, playlist, or artist name that violates our Platform Rules within the Spotify app by doing the following:

  1. On the desktop app, right-click the title, playlist title or artist name.
  2. Select Report. A form will open in your browser.
  3. Complete the form and Submit.

b. Track or album

To report a track or album, you’ll need to contact us directly. Simply head here to start a conversation with us.

2. Inaccurate metadata or faulty audio

If you notice a track, album, or podcast on Spotify that isn't quite right, you can report it. Examples could include:

  • content with incorrect information (e.g. a song which appears under the wrong artist profile, mixed-up track titles, etc.)
  • corrupted audio playback or a large amount of empty space at the end of a song

First, make sure that there isn't something wrong with your account, your device or the app itself by trying the following troubleshooting steps:

  • perform a clean reinstall of the app
  • log in on another device (using the same account)
  • log in on another account (on the same device)
  • try a different network connection

If you've tried all of the above and the issue with the track/album persists, check out this support article to find out how to report it.

Note: If a track's title appears in a foreign language, this is most likely not a content error, but rather something that was intended by the artist or a label who uploaded the track.

3. Make a legal claim on content

You can also notify us about any content that infringes your intellectual property rights or otherwise violates the law by heading here: Make a legal claim on content.

4. Your own music is not in the right place

If you're an artist and your music ends up on the wrong artist profile, or another artist’s music appears on yours, please follow the steps outlined here.

Note: In case you already have access to Spotify for Artists and don’t see an expected upcoming release displaying in your Catalog section, just reach out to your label or distributor or get in touch with the Creator Support team, they’ll have it sorted in no time.

For more info, check out our Spotify for Artists Help page or our video series The Game Plan.

5. Explicit Content

We have a few different ways to report explicit content on Spotify, depending on what you're wanting to report and why.

a. Report untagged or incorrectly tagged explicit content

To report untagged or incorrectly tagged explicit content, you’ll need to contact us directly. Just head here to start a conversation with us.

b. Filter out explicit content

You can allow or block anything that’s tagged as explicit within the Spotify app! Check out these guidelines and select the device you’re using to find out how to do exactly that.

There can be more than one reason why the music would suddenly stop. Below you can see a few examples about what could be the case. In this article we'll go over the most common causes and how to solve these.

  • There is something wrong with the Spotify installation on your device
  • You might have forgotten to log out on a different device and a friend or family member is unknowingly listening using your account
  • Perhaps you are in an area with lesser cellular coverage
  • Or an unauthorized party has gained access to your account and is trying to stream music

There is something wrong with the Spotify installation on your device.

As with any unexpected behavior, it's a good idea to try a reinstallation to see if that solves the issue. Here you can find a different Spotify Answers which explains how to do a thorough reinstallation of the app.

Try the next steps if this didn't help.

You might have forgotten to log out on a different device and a friend or family member is unknowingly listening using your account.

This can be solved easily with the following two steps:

  1. Change your Spotify password, which you can do here
  2. Log your account out from all devices it's logged into, you can do this here

Note: Step 2 doesn’t include partner devices, such as Sonos and PlayStation. For more information about logging out (or unlinking) Spotify from a partner device, check the device’s manufacturer guide.

If you have a Facebook-created Spotify account, you'll need to change your Facebook password as well, and log your Facebook profile out from all devices.

Perhaps you are in an area with lesser cellular coverage.

Find out if lowering the streaming quality helps. If this helps, you'll also save some on your available data. Here's how you can change your audio settings:

Desktop

  1. Click the arrow in the top-right corner and select Settings.
  2. Under Music Quality, select your preferred settings. You can choose from the audio quality settings in the table in Music quality details below.

Mobile and tablet

  1. Tap Home (in the bottom of the screen)
  2. Tap Settings (the cogwheel icon)
  3. Under Music Quality, select your preferred settings. You can choose from the audio quality settings in the table in Music quality details below.

Alternatively you could save music for Offline use and enable Offline-mode when visiting an area with low cellular coverage. More info about Offline music here.

Or an unauthorized party has gained access to your account and is trying to stream music.

Hopefully this is not the issue! But if none of the above steps have helped, we recommend following the steps on this page, just in case. We'll be sure to secure your account and revert any changes that have been made.

Answer:

Spotify Radio is a feature that creates a playlist based on any Song, Album, Playlist or Artist you select. The playlist also updates over time to keep fresh.

Imagine you're not really sure what to listen to specifically right now, but you know what mood you're in. Simply select let's say a Song which represents this mood best and start the Radio from there!

To start a Radio station on Desktop, Mobile or Web Player:

  1. Go to any Song, Album, Playlist or Artist.
  2. Select Ivan_0-1610957534572.png or Ivan_1-1610957534785.png.
  3. Select Go to Song/Album/Artist radio.

Tip: It's possible to launch an Album-based radio station only on web player and mobile. On desktop, you can start an Artist radio from an Album.

artistradiodesktopapp.JPG

The Radio feature will create a playlist of roughly 50 tracks. If you want the Radio to play endlessly, make sure you enable the Autoplay option in the app settings. Another way to start an endless mix of similar songs is to launch a radio station from a Playlist. This will be indicated by the following label on desktop and mobile:

moresongs.JPG

You can Like (on desktop) or Follow (on mobile) a Radio playlist to save it under Playlists in Your Library. If you have Premium, you can download it too!

FAQ

Q: Can I tune into an AM or FM radio station with Spotify.

A: No, but what you can with Spotify Radio is better! Unlimited stations, continuous music based on your personal taste and no ads if you are a Premium member.

Q: I started a Radio Station but it's not endless.

A: Be sure to enable Autoplay in the Spotify settings. As soon as the playlist is over, you'll get the endless mix based on your personal recommendations. You can also start an endless radio from a Playlist.

Q: I don't like the songs I am being served.

A: The longer you use Spotify the more we learn about what songs you like. You'll notice that stations are improving with time the more you listen.
It's also possible to Dislike
Ivan_0-1611040630831.png a track in a Radio based on a playlist to let Spotify know about your preferences. For the time being, the Dislike feature is only available on the mobile app.

Q: I followed a Radio Station but it's not appearing in my Library.

A: Wait a bit and it will appear shortly.

Q: I used to have a 'Create new Station' button in my Library.

A: This button has been removed. Above you can read how to start a new station.

Q: I'm listening to music and it becomes a Radio Station which I don't want.

A: Disable Autoplay in the Spotify settings to prevent a Radio Station from generating once a Playlist or Album has finished.

Most common issues can be fixed with a quick reinstall of the app. In some situations however, a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the app might be needed. This way, you can start afresh with Spotify on your device.

Heads upYou'll need to re-download any downloaded music and podcasts after reinstalling the app. Your settings will also be reset to the defaults, so it's a good idea to make screenshots of them so you can quickly set them up the way you like them again.

  8. In the new window that opens up make sure there's no Spotify folder showing up. If there is, you can delete it.
  9. Make sure that there is no Spotify folder left in AppData\Local  (or C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\Spotify\Storage) as well.
  10. In addition, you can run a search on your device to look for any leftover Spotify folders left. If you find any, make sure to delete them.
  11. Shut down your device, wait a couple of minutes and switch it on again.
  12. Download and install Spotify (try different download sources, if the issue doesn't get resolved after the first try):

Tip: If you'd like to be more thorough, you can also use in addition a trusted third-party device cleaner app to make sure you've removed any leftover files before installing the app again.

What you are seeing is a Canvas. Canvases are immersive visual layers replacing the cover art on the Now Playing View screen. Currently it's only available for mobile devices. The content will be scaled for screens in portrait mode.

Every Canvas is created by artists for their own music. It will start playback by default whenever you play a song that contains a Canvas.

Below you can see two examples of tracks that have a Canvas.

Canvases are optimized to use very little data and battery. You can toggle between having Canvases enabled by going to the Settings.

Android:

Home > Settings > Canvas

iOS:

Home > Settings > Playback > Canvas

New Canvases are being added every day so look out for visual treats in the future!

Sometimes, we see reports from users that Spotify isn’t shuffling properly.

In 2016, we made some improvements to our shuffle algorithm that were set as default for all users. We appreciate the feedback we’ve received since then, and we still continue to pass your thoughts on to our developers.

Occasionally, there are some cases where the Shuffle function genuinely isn’t working for individual users. We have a few troubleshooting steps and threads related to those issues.

Troubleshooting certain types of Shuffle function

Additionally, we’d suggest trying the following steps on a desktop device:

  • Make sure that Shuffle isn’t enabled.
  • Go to any playlist and click Play.
  • Whilst playing, go to your Queue.
  • Click Shuffle on and off. Each time, check for any true duplicates or similar combinations.

If you can’t find any duplicates or similar combinations of tracks lining up in the queue, the Shuffle function is performing normally.

If your profile has already been claimed, you’ll see the blue verification tick when viewing it in the desktop app. If that’s the case, a member of your team can give you access by following these steps. Artist teams that deliver their releases using Distrokid, CD Baby, or Emubands are given instant access to their artist profile.

If you’re an artist or a member of an artist’s management team and your artist profile hasn’t yet been claimed, or you haven’t used Distrokid, CD Baby, or Emubands as your distributor, you can request access to Spotify for Artists here.

Once you’ve submitted your request, it’ll be reviewed by a member of the Creator Support team; it can sometimes take a few days before you’re granted access, but don’t worry, the team will get to it as quickly as possible! You can speed up the verification process by verifying your request using your official artist Twitter or Instagram account.

And one more thing; you’ll need a Spotify account in order to get access to Spotify for Artists. If you haven’t got one yet, you’ll be given the steps to set one up when you request access.
