Can't update payment details for student discount

I have a FREE account, linked to an italian PayPal Account.

I just started studying at a US University (USC) and I'd like to take advantage of the premium student discount.

Problem is, when I try to purchase the subscirption at this page https://www.spotify.com/us/student/ it says that I'm not elegible and I have to purchase a full price premium account first.

I suspect it's caused by my Country settings on my profile (Italy, currently), which I can't modify if I'm not a paying subscriber (why???)

To sum up, I want to change my profile country without having to purchse a full price Premium subscription first. Is it possible?
