So, I wiped my Mac a few days ago, and finally got around to setting Spotify back up. I notice that the device section is totally missing, and came here to findout the hacky workaround to get local files syncing. However, it isn't working. I have the audio files, and they play fine from the same playlists on my Mac's spotify. They just never sync despite being set to download on my phone.
Listen, Spotify guys: You gotta stop releasing these broken updates. I'm really, really, really tired of you breaking the software. I'm not going to keep paying for this. You guys make your experience worse whilst google improves theirs. This is a bad strategy. Don't release software with missing features.
I need local file syncing. I know I'm not alone in this.

In the meantime:
You won't be able to see an indication in the desktop client that the device is paired with the desktop client. But as long as they both are on the same WiFi network you should be able to trigger the local files sync by toggling the offline toggle on the playlist on your phone. Just make sure all your local files are in the playlist you switch to offline in the desktop app.
