10 hours limit?

Hello,

I enjoy listening to my spotify playlists but I got a problem...

Since a month ago I'm unable to use spotify because it says i've listened to 10 hours of music in a month.

On the internet i read that this is a restriction for members using spotify longer than 6 months...

I've listened to spotify only for 4 months now.. ;o

How can I solve this?

Re: 10 hours limit?

Great so now I get 2.5 hours of listening per week at best and it's full of annoying ads. And you call that Spotify Free? It should be called Spotify Super-limited-annoying-as-hell-useless-crap-version.

I will however start paying again as soon as hell freezes over or you fix all the bugs and ruined features. Whichever comes first. (Newsflash: Winter is coming - in hell).

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?

Re: 10 hours limit?

There is but I suggested trying it because I've seen a few issues with the desktop client and free accounts in the last couple of days. Restarting the desktop client seems to work eventually too.

Re: 10 hours limit?

Ah, those 2.5 hours aren't cumulative. You will just get the 2.5 each week no matter how much you listened the week before.

Re: 10 hours limit?

The desktop client seems to get confused sometimes. Try logging out and closing spotify then restart it. If it still shows 0 minutes, try playing something anyway.

Re: 10 hours limit?

Hi

Was wondering if someone could help, Spotify informed me in October I have used my 10 hours, I understand the hours are divided in to weeks, but it has been nearly 2 weeks now, how can you find out when the hours reset ?

Thanks so much

Re: 10 hours limit?

Keep saying this... Are they removing my comments ? Probably... Forget spotify, use groove shark, it's free, no limitations (yet) and so much more music you cant find on spotify

Hey there!

I've just taken a look at your account - It was created on 2011-10-27, so you've had it a little longer than 6 months now. So this 10 hour playback would have started to appear for you now. You can find out more about this right here.

Re: 10 hours limit?

Hey!

The 10 hours are allocated as 2.5 hour chunks per week. So, next week you should have a little more music time.

I used to have an invite which should give me unlimited access to spotify (with ads though). But I discovered my invite key has been removed or something because now I got only 10 hours a month as everyone else I guess :). What should I do?

Hi muscut - While we used to be an invite-only service, invitations are no longer required to create an account.

Please note that users that joined Spotify via one of these invites are not now exempt from the time limits on free accounts.

Since you've had your account for more than 6 months these limits will apply unless you upgrade to Unlimited/ Premium. You can find more info on this right here.
