[Account] Change Username

I know this is probably out there somewhere already, but I find it quite frustrating that I was assigned a "username" of lots of numbers when my account was created.  It makes it hard for people to find me, as I can't remember my username, let alone try to get them to.  Can we please make it an option to change our username?  Even if there is a once-a-year change or something...that would be such a helpful thing!

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea.


Your username is designed to identify you on Spotify, so it can’t change.
However, you can now add or change your display name on mobile!
A display name replaces the username where it shows on your profile, app, playlists, and Friend Activity.

Hi there,

I'm transgender and made my account pre-transition so my name that appears is my birthname rather than the name everybody knows me by. Is there anyway to change this as it causes me immense distress.

I don't understand why this is so hard and why the spotify team keep rejecting it.
I'm really **bleep** off that I can't have an identity on this app that has social interactions.

I love spotify premium but its kinda ridiculous that I'm paying for a service that wont even let me change the username!

please implement an editable display name, rather than simply forcing all users to keep their original username . I recently deleted facebook, but I am very much keeping Spotify, and my Spotify username defaulted to a string of numbers. I would love to be able to edit my display name back to my name and that doesn't seem like too much to ask. Thanks!

@asciiM0  oh thats funny. When it came to commenting one of the above users who boasts about boeing mentally sick , therefore needing this mod more than the normal people , i got an instant message... So they are active - only they choose to **bleep** on this issue

Don't see how I was boasting, to be honest. It's a medical condition recognised by health specialists all over the world and it has been for decades. Can we get the conversation back to changing usernames rather than your ignorant transphobia?
