Add support for Android TV

Android TV is Google's latest take on Android for the TV and is released with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The first device running Android TV is Google's own device Nexus Player.

The good thing with Android TV is that it runs regular Android apps with some modifications and it also has built in support for Google Cast.

Well for some reason Spotify doesn't pick up the Android TV cast capability, at least on my Sony Bravia TV. I have used Chromecast for years, and if I plug this in, Spotify will see that. So my Sony TV is a little behind on software upgrade I suspect. But even so, casting only allows you to see what's on your phone/tablet, and with a beautiful 4K display why should I be limited to how Spotify is rendered on a smaller/phone screen?

In the end you want Spotify in the living room, so why not support it properly, rather than having a strategy that requires people to cast?

Spotify exist to LG Smart TV to 

I do use Google Play Music ben doing it after Spotify was late with Chromecast support and Cast Audio style. 

But totaly agree Google should not be alone to delevery music app one TV. 

Is great for people with no smart  phones or computers in the home.

I thought that the same functionality as on the chromecast would be available.

This is not going to change soon, as Spotify insists that Xbox or whatever is more important than any of its customers wishes, so we can forget to get this on Android TV.

And mind you, we were forced by Spotify to give kudoes to the idea to get Spotify on Chromecast. Nearly 10KKudoes and a few years later and nearly any communication from S.: wow, it happened. I think: because Google wanted it to happen.
