[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

I'm delighted to say Lossless is now rolling out. It will happen gradually, to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.

Please keep in mind their ridiculous low payout to artists. The lowest of all streaming services AFAIK. It made me switch to Tidal. If Qobuz had integration with Plexamp I would have chosen them.

It's a weird and reversed world where those who create value with their art barely get paid.

The issue with Tidal is not supported in Volumio free account.  Also moode audio hasn't it. Only spotify connect.

With big system (not portable or phone) usage of Tidal is little bit problematic or increase expenses.

Qobuz is unavailable in my country, Amazon too...

So currently Spotify connect as single free option to use with normal player as Volumio free using remote application of Spotify or Volumio without transfer files from remote device via some bluetooth or AirPlay.

This is very bad case.

Why you shouldn’t really choose a music streaming service just by the supposed rate they pay the artist’s:  https://soundcharts.com/blog/music-streaming-rates-payouts  This still does not excuse Spotify’s attitudes both toward artists and customers. Only a mass exodus from Spotify would kick their ass into maybe actually offering HiFi if it wasn’t too late and they actually went out of business instead. Time to scare Spotify!!!

I have an idea. Why not offering music in hifi quality?

SysC0mp

I hate it so much that you are completely helpless as a user if big corporations ignore your wishes. Still no HIFI available, it is absolutely hilarious.

HoverDonkey
You're not helpless. Vote with your wallet. Use a free service to transfer
your playlists, and join another service.

Simple.

Peace.

Spotify is awefully quiet on the matter, so they don't care about the customers that are being lost to other services.
