[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

I'm delighted to say Lossless is now rolling out. It will happen gradually, to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.

Chromecast Audio supports FLAC up to 24-bit / 96 kHz but you can't stream Spotify lossless to it. wth?

Live in the U.S. and still no access to lossless audio. Been updating the app and checking every day. What's the hold up?

Same here, no lossless yet. I wonder if they notify you when updated. If anyone has lossless, did spotify notify it was now available?

Doudar

When you say (more than 50) does that means lossless will be deployed for more than the named makets?

I received a notification on the day they announced it saying it was coming and I'd be notified but that was nearly 2 weeks ago.  Anybody else yet in the UK received it?

Exactly the same story over here in Poland. No further news yet

You'd think after having more than a decade to prepare for this moment, they would have had a more coherent and swift rollout and communications strategy ready to go, rather than giving an initial impression of half-azzing it.  It's almost as if top-level decision-makers and marketing team got ahead of the dev teams actually responsible for rolling it out, leaving everyone scrambling?  How much long do we need to wait to hear AI slop in lossless fidelity?!?!?

I know it's only be roughly 2 weeks since they announced it but there doesn't seem to be much of a roll out as far as I can tell?  I hope they've not changed their minds because of technical issues etc. @loneliest_cabin do you have any news for us?

Friends, a feature upgrade of this magnitude is definitely going to take some time and be rolled out in stages by region to verify if servers, filters and software are going to work or break.

If it took Spotify this long to bring Lossless to fruition, expect a slow deployment. Yes, I definitely agree it's been an absurd wait time however we should be thankful it's finally here. That and my ears will stop bleeding every time I turn up the volume in my car. 🤣
