[All Platforms][Playlists] Nested Playlists

I think it would be very useful to include other playlists in a playlist. The use case would be in the event that I have two (or more) playlists, perhaps a alternative and a pop playlist, then I could create higher level playlists that simply shuffle several playlists. When any of the referenced playlists were altered, these higher level ones would automatically be updated too.

Hey @ibealer

Playlist folders are already available in Spotify. In the Desktop app, right click in the playlists area, and you'll find the option to create a playlist folder. Once created, you can drag and drop playlists to the folder for better management.

Hope it helps. 🙂

But what he's saying here is to combine multiple playlists so you can play them both together. This feature existed years ago, where any playlists you included in a folder - if you selected that folder, you would see all songs in one list that were from all of the playlists inside of that folder. And then you could play them, shuffle, etc. It was very very convenient.

That was helpful to see that the desktop app has these features, but I primarily use spotify on my phone, where this feature is not available. Will playlist folders eventually be implemented on other platforms?

Playlist folders are a wonderful idea but I can't find any way to shuffle them all at once on android unless I want to download the 2017 version of the app. Can you help with this? It doesn't look like this should be marked complete unless you can play the playlist folders all at once.

This is very nice! But in my opinion still needs a little bit of cooking:

I can "play" the folder and it will play in order, however I cannot see the where is the playing track in the list (even if I go into the inner playlist, it is not marked as playing.

Other than that - I am unable to tell Spotify "play this nested playlist (folder) but start from this track", because when playing a track through the button in the playlist, it only plays the child playlist, so when it gets to the end it doesn't keep playing the next one in the folder.

Suggestion to solve this:

Enable a "list view" instead of "grid view" when looking at a folder's content. This will enable to understand order better, and maybe even enable to see like a "tree view" of all the tracks in track in the playlist. Here's how I imagine it will look like:

I'm not a designer but you get the idea.
