[All Platforms] "Don't Like Button" should be added to all sections

Hello everyone,

I am not sure why it keeps changing between updates, although in the past Daily Mixes have the Like & Dislike button. But this time around it has been completely removed and is only available Under Your Weekly Discovery.

It would be nice if the "Don't Like Button" was added everywhere, from Weekly Discovery, Daily Mixes, even when searching specific songs, albums, genres etc. to better filter our music preferences.

Also I find on Android on the drop down menu the Don't like button rarely ever works and have to enter the app directly. Like always works perfectly fine.

I would appreciate it if this could be considered.

Thank you

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen!

We're happy to announce that the Hide Songs feature is now available on both mobile and desktop devices for Premium users.

Simply press the song's 3 dot menu and select Hide song. This can be done in any playlist made by Spotify or someone else, as well as albums. And any hidden tracks will no longer play from there.

Hidden songs will also sync between devices - no matter what device you're playing on. Unhiding a track can only be done through the mobile and desktop app, however.

You can also find more details about the feature here.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

Cheers!

I don’t know if any actual engineers will see this, but I and everyone I’ve talked to about this has stopped using mixes and playlists altogether and only use shuffle on the ‘likes’ playlist because of how bad the algorithm is at always serving the same 10 songs no matter what the mix is or what playlist gets played or shuffled. If anyone is reading this something is seriously wrong with the process as is, and a all platform mute or dislike would be a good step forward.

I don't think this button will ever be implemented. I have quit using Spotify all together. Found Accuradio which plays music without commercials. Within each style there are many playlists. I always play classical and finally can play complete symphonies and not a 1 minute track from 1 movement.😀

I love my discover weekly but I have a visceral reaction to chaotic music (along with other music). It sets me on edge and gives me anxiety. I have two different work computers, a laptop and my phone that I play music on. I love discovering new music but I shouldn’t have to switch back to Spotify every time the same song I removed from my playlist is making my heart rate elevate and skin crawl. Please fix this.

This, 1000x this.

Spotify is terrible these days.  They got rid of the desktop app so they could have a unified app and then they hide controls that would work cross platform because... nobody knows, actually.  Probably to push people to use the app.

But I can't use the iOS app because it hijacks my volume and set it to maximum randomly, blowing out my eardrums or waking me up at 3am.

it's almost the end of 2023, 4 years on.... any movement on this one Spotify?

The algorithm is pretty good but I want to help it be better by telling it want I don't like. It is immensely annoying when in the middle of a good playlist some track that I really dislike pops up and ruins the vibe.

If song or artist is on account wide block list, skip it.  I greatly question Spotify's developer capability after this fiasco.

Is the non existent Dislike option the same as in  the case of Youtube: If we hide the option to dislike, people will forget about it and like more? Because it might hurt someones frail ego? This is not even that hard of a request. Looks like a social manipulation to me.

I dont think it should be across all playlists. For example, in the official guardians of the galaxy mixtape, there are some tracks from the OST of the film that I dont want to listen to. However if I want to listen to the guardians of the galaxy OST and song hides sync over playlists, the songs would not be played. Keep the syncing over devices but not playlists.

That's a completely different issue @Astronomacle - you're talking about playlist management. If you want a playlist without songs in it you can just make your own playlist without those songs in it.

What we're talking about here is us telling Spotify we never want to hear a particular song ever again anywhere at all no really never because it makes us want to tear our hear out / smash things up / vomit a little / generally go crazy; and then Spotify goes ahead and plays it again in another generated playlist because we're on a different device or whatever other poor reason they come up with instead of implementing simple functionality.

Ideally you wouldn't come into an issue people want fixed and then suggest it shouldn't be fixed because you don't understand it, if you want the same functionality you've already got you can just continue using it without posting anything at all.

Also, hey @Spotify, when you gonna fix this already?!?
