[All Platforms] "Don't Like Button" should be added to all sections

Hello everyone,

I am not sure why it keeps changing between updates, although in the past Daily Mixes have the Like & Dislike button. But this time around it has been completely removed and is only available Under Your Weekly Discovery.

It would be nice if the "Don't Like Button" was added everywhere, from Weekly Discovery, Daily Mixes, even when searching specific songs, albums, genres etc. to better filter our music preferences.

Also I find on Android on the drop down menu the Don't like button rarely ever works and have to enter the app directly. Like always works perfectly fine.

I would appreciate it if this could be considered.

Thank you

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen!

We're happy to announce that the Hide Songs feature is now available on both mobile and desktop devices for Premium users.

Simply press the song's 3 dot menu and select Hide song. This can be done in any playlist made by Spotify or someone else, as well as albums. And any hidden tracks will no longer play from there.

Hidden songs will also sync between devices - no matter what device you're playing on. Unhiding a track can only be done through the mobile and desktop app, however.

You can also find more details about the feature here.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

Cheers!

What happened? Five years ago someone asked for a simple feature, to blacklist specific songs from ever playing in our accounts. With tons of support from paying users, and nobody's interests would be harmed if the feature is implemented, yet Spotify promotes garbage DJ gimmicks instead and doesn't listen to its customers.

With my kids moving out and me having tons of other options, I am seriously considering cancelling my premium account of 8 years.

I absolutely cannot stand that I can't dislike a song. This one stupid song keeps ending up on my playlists and the "Don't play this song" button has been gone. I do not like the song, I hardly like the artist, and I cannot stop the daily playlists from playing them.

I'm not sure if this is some scammy vibe with record labels to ensure their artists get plays or what, but, unfortunately for them, liking and disliking songs goes hand in hand. Only being able to like songs or add them to a playlist is only half of the desired functionality.

In the same vein, one time I tried to stop a certain "era" of an artist from playing by disliking all of their albums after a time period, but instead, I ended up blocking the artist from being playable.

Please, please, please, be considerate of the fact that I may not like some song from an album, and entire album, or an entire artist. Assuming that you're getting skip data isn't working for me anymore, because the same bad songs show up on my playlists and I have no recourse.

What about the ability to be able to block a song from ever playing ?

I keep getting recommended new music by artists I have set to "do not play this artist." This happened first with Dev Lemons, then with Lovejoy. I am not following Lovejoy on Spotify, and I have not listened to a single song by them in nearly half a year. And yet, their new single was the first thing I saw when I opened the app this morning.

Additionally, I keep getting recommended explicit playlists and albums, such as The **bleep** EP by The Dare. I don't personally mind this kind of music at all, and I understand why it's being recommended to me, but I imagine there's many people who would rather not have an album that literally has a song called **bleep** on it be on the front page of Spotify when they open the app to show something to their friends.

I get that some of these are probably paid advertisements, and you can't just remove them, but even so, many other social media sites let you push a button to say, "hey, I'd rather not see this specific ad/post/content again." Why not Spotify?

I just confirmed that after clearing the cache on the Mac app the problem persists.  I then tried to recreate the issue using my iPhone 15 Pro and noticed additional weird behavior.  [For some background info, I normally use my Mac to control the music playing on my Onkyo receiver, but I also use the iOS Spotify app to do so occasionally although mostly to play music on my Airpods.]  When I opened the iOS app I noticed that the single track (Bamboleo) that I minused/hid using the Mac app was not hidden in the iOS app.  Given that I hid the song 4 days ago via the Mac app I don't think it's an issue of the 2 apps not syncing yet.  But I hard quit the iOS app, waited a minute, opened it again, and expected the apps to sync and the song to be hidden.  It was not.  So I then hid Bamboleo using the iOS app which then made it so my Discovery Weekly on both apps was in sync in terms of having one single track hidden.  Using the iOS app with my Onkyo receiver as the output source I then non-shuffle-played the track before Bamboleo.  Once it finished playing it did indeed skip over Bamboleo and play the next track (Trompeta).  But what was super weird is that as you can see in the screenshot, the iOS app thinks that Bamboleo is playing!  Even though the track that is playing on the Onkyo is most definitely Trompeta and the display on the Onkyo says that Trompeta is playing.  So there seems to be myriad unwanted issues at play here.

The worst part of this STILL being an issue, is that it's not a hard fix. Tedious maybe, but simple. Add a personal block list, if next song is on that list auto skip. It's NOT difficult and I'm just learning code. Only difficultly would be putting the code in the right spots, but I'm sure their team is trained enough to make a simple block button.

With Spotify new random AI shuffle, this is now even worse. I hid 2 songs from a playlist and Spotify immediately played the hidden songs back to back while streaming on a different speaker. Please fix this!

hide song doesn't even stop it from playing from the play list and device it was hidden from. fyi. broken af.

there are many threads all asking for the same things.
We want to be able to:

1.  dislike any song, and ensure it is never played again, even if that song is part of a playlist we like.
2. dislike any artist, and ensure they are never played again, even if that artist has songs on a playlist we like.

3. do this on the mobile app, and on PCs.

i hate listening to garbage songs you are forcing me to listen to where did the dislike button go??
