[AutoPlay] Option to toggle Autoplay on/off across all devices/platforms

The Autoplay setting isn't working for connected devices and the web player. We need the Autoplay setting to work the same as it does on desktop and when playing on the phone.

Updated on 2023-02-07

Hey folks,

The "Autoplay" setting was recently updated. The single "Autoplay" setting in the desktop and mobile apps will now enable or disable Autoplay across all devices on your account. This change makes it easier to manage instead of there being 2 different settings.

You only need to change the Autoplay setting in one of the apps, either desktop or mobile, and it will apply to your account on all devices including the Web Player and Spotify Connect devices.

You can read the support article for more information about the Autoplay feature.

@MattSuda we know all that, some of us have been following this for over a month. The issue now is that the 'new version' doesn't appear to be available to download

@MattSuda how does one obtain the "new version"

I've done a fresh install

Left it open and connected to the internet

Restarted it...

No love

The update will eventually roll out to everyone. It's not immediately available to all. So you'll have to wait. Frustrating but apparently that's the deal.

It's not immediately available to all

@DipDipDipam

Where you getting that info from, can you substantiate? There has been no mention that this is a version for a selective few.

@proxiblue top post on page 27 by moderator Elena. She did say it'll eventually be available to all in a couple of days but I'm going to guess it hasn't worked out that way yet.

Yes, i have read that post, and it does not really say that it 'is not available to all' It says it is rolling out 'slowly' or 'gradually', I forget the exact term/phrase used.

Lets check:

Release was announced Friday:

1. Direct download from spotify: 1.1.73

2. MS store: 1.1.73

3. Mac (as reported by others) 1.1.73

4. Linux - not 1.1.74, could not find the version

So, erm, where else would it have rolled out?

I can understand it may take a day or so to be released into MS app store or Mac app store, but spotify control their own direct download version, so if that is not even updated, I would say there is no immediate release, and the announcement is premature. As it stand version 1.1.74 is vapour ware. It is not available on any platform, as announced.

I honestly don't get how Spotify make decisions of this nature without proper market / user research.

I get there is a group that don't want autoplay, but, there is also those that want it.

The feature was that it autoplay, but then since the non-autoplay group complained, they just disable the damn feature without doing any proper research and consideration how this will impact all of their users.

and. here. we. are.

Spotify need to seriously look at how they plan and implement feature changes, or existing changes.

As a premium user, I would expect AT LEAST a communication that the feature will change, so those that don't know about it can vote, and a proper spread of user requirements obtained before they make a feature change.

I have an autistic child. It has been **bleep** the last couple of days with major impulse tantrums that her google mini is no longer autoplaying.

Spotify, get**bleep** together, and plan your changes properly.

Deezer is starting to look a lot more appealing....

This is terrible. I pay for this service. I set autoplay to OFF. Autoplay plays anyway. If I wanted a service that just randomly played music it thinks I'd like I would be listening to Pandora for free. FIX THIS. PLEASE.

Teamiceberg

Please implement a way to at least turn off autoplay, once an album is finished.

It‘s no fun like this.

Can't believe you have to vote to get such a basic feature added, unreal.
