[Desktop] Bring back Lyrics

Allow me to re-edit again, in premise, that thanks to all of you this idea keeps receiving votes, and I am grateful to each of you, and when I expressed this desire as an idea I was a newbie, I owe to the professionality of Marco and Toku, whom I thank again, that I became aware that this idea it’s by no means new, nor even mine but Spotify’s, yet it is properly expressed, and it is shared by enough Community members for it to be still alive, and I agree with Arcanscape that, "We really need the lyrics feature", and I just notice an excellent temporary alternative of “SpotifyLyrics” kindly programmed and provided by Mirth (fr31): https://github.com/fr31/spotifylyrics/releases (via scoobyTdog), it works very well on my Pc 🙂 and I invite you all to try it.

Whilst singing might be fun, I have another approach to lyrics and sound, which is of course not mutually exclusive, and I read the words to see if I like them as I enjoy the melody, if I see myself in the lyrics, if I share the values expressed, and this is easier by having the words at hand.

So please Spotify bring back the Lyrics Feature most elegantly -- as you did with restyling the Community -- when you find a better Lyrics Provider.

Reading and listening might be even better than karaoke, although not as fun 😉

and every member could always do both, even just singing, as a very close person in my family does, and many other people do.

Thank you for evaluating, with my warmest and most sincere Regards.

Marco, a poet at heart

Wow, blown away: first the possibility to block followers, now lyrics (just checked, have them now in germany(…whats next, hifi?! 🤪 Spotify is on fire right now…good for them (and us)!

Wow! Finally!

Seriously, I was sure it was a lost cause. Happy I was wrong.

Thank you spotify team!

After many years without words to the song,  Spotify apparently made again a deal with Musicmatch. Better late than sorry.
Spotify Hifi was promised for this year.... but if that goes the lyric feature long way maybe 2021 was a typo and Spotify meant 2120 😉

Thanks Spotify. Don’t know what the issues were but thanks for bringing it back. May become a paying member again.

I've subscribed to spotify for many years and I've never had lyrics on my phone, I have friends who use spotify free and have them. I'm even looking for a help topic because lyrics don't appear in this new version. I'm thinking about canceling spotify, I'm already using apple music more.

koyot

Tidal has lyrics + HiFi and Master quality. The library is comparable.

Price range - almost the same.

thanks for your tip koyot, Tidal is really good, but I'm already switching to Apple Music. I got in touch now with the support and the problem is in my account. I was asked to make a new account, after several tests, and the new account worked lyrics, so they suggested canceling my current account and migrating to the new one. I thought it was some kind of joke and closed the deck.

Leave it up to Spotify to remove a feature beloved by its users and give itself 6 years to create an alternative, and to then come up with this mess. Just when you thought Spotify couldn't possibly add any more empty space to its UI, they show us they are masters at their craft. We get three lines of lyrics in a size so large even a grandma would say it's getting a little crazy. Unscrollable and unskippable, we can not look nor jump through the lyrics. We can not add any nor sync the lyrics to the music. If the timing doesn't match the music, too bad. In typical Spotify fashion, they have taken 6 years to come up with a feature that already existed, dumb and strip it down to only its bare features, and release it to their users while acting like they deserve praise for it.

Fantastic to see this feature back. No more need to keep flipping back and forward between Spotify and Genius.

It seems to be working well on android. The only thing I'd like to see is the ability to skip songs when the lyrics are fully expanded. Apart from that minor niggle it's great.
