[Desktop] Bring back Lyrics

Allow me to re-edit again, in premise, that thanks to all of you this idea keeps receiving votes, and I am grateful to each of you, and when I expressed this desire as an idea I was a newbie, I owe to the professionality of Marco and Toku, whom I thank again, that I became aware that this idea it’s by no means new, nor even mine but Spotify’s, yet it is properly expressed, and it is shared by enough Community members for it to be still alive, and I agree with Arcanscape that, "We really need the lyrics feature", and I just notice an excellent temporary alternative of “SpotifyLyrics” kindly programmed and provided by Mirth (fr31): https://github.com/fr31/spotifylyrics/releases (via scoobyTdog), it works very well on my Pc 🙂 and I invite you all to try it.

Whilst singing might be fun, I have another approach to lyrics and sound, which is of course not mutually exclusive, and I read the words to see if I like them as I enjoy the melody, if I see myself in the lyrics, if I share the values expressed, and this is easier by having the words at hand.

So please Spotify bring back the Lyrics Feature most elegantly -- as you did with restyling the Community -- when you find a better Lyrics Provider.

Reading and listening might be even better than karaoke, although not as fun 😉

and every member could always do both, even just singing, as a very close person in my family does, and many other people do.

TTNinja : That’s the issue, you see, after 5 years, 21K upvotes means one thing : lyrics feature is not important at all. Out of a base of few million users if only 21 000 users are requesting a feature it’s not worth the effort and the budget (1% for development costs, 99% for Royalties).

No, we need at least +200K users requesting this feature to get attention by Spotify.

Until then it’s Spotify + Google search for lyrics; or move to Apple Music with their crappy UI for which they give 3 months free.

madmodgirl : I don’t understand the need for dislike button. If you don’t like, don’t listen; no need to go against the artist trying to make a living or the people enjoying it. Plus, it will make the artist and their fans sad to see that type of negative feedback, even discourage the artist to continue or worse.

200k people are not going to request a feature, that's unreasonable to
think that many people will go through the effort to look it up on the
forums. You don't ignore the only requests people are making just because
it would cost money to implement them. You have to spend money to make
money.


And adding a dislike button does not have to show any metric to anyone
other than yourself. You clearly miss the point of one. It would exist so
that you can tell the algorithm what kind of music you don't like. You
can't ban songs on Song/Artist radio and there is no artist discovery
feature on desktop. If you aren't actively searching for songs, Spotify
will almost never recommend you anything new.

No one wants a dislike button to bully small struggling artists.

PitiNeo: 99% of people will never come to a forum/feedback site and post or vote. It represents a small slice of the users who are interested in particular topics. Sometimes, they are the vocal minority and can indeed be ignored. Other times, they represent a large silent majority and it's critical to listen. Or somewhere in between.

Spotify doesn't know how much potential clients they lose due to not rolling the lyrics feature out in Europe. Apple Music has it for years and it's their advantage. It seems Spotify doesn't care about European users. We wait two years now and we still know nothing, any detail.
