Discography in Chronological Order

Spotify provides a great Discography option, but it is sorted from newest to oldest.  I would typically want to listen to the Discography in the order it was released.  Seems like a simple addition to enable sorting the Discography by release date with oldest first (or toggle to newest first).

Is there already a way to do this that I'm missing?

Seperately could we update the front page to either show the correct number of required kudo's or remove the incorrect information about it being 40+ that is likely deterrring aditional kudos since not everyone is going to read all the comments...

This is my first post here because this idea is awesome. Having to create a playlist to listen to an artist in chronological order is just silly.

For a service that promotes music exploration and allows us an unprecedented amount of access to the works of artists we love/have come to love, Spotify's layout of albums is a buzzkill. I was scratching my head looking through the list of David Bowie and Velvet Underground albums. There were so many re-releases which made looking for the albums of said artists pretty darn hard for a person without prior knowledge of which albums are "real albums" and which are compilations etc. Also listening to artists in chronological order helps us appreciate the development of the artists from their roots, which is much more important than listening to a one-hit wonder/their top songs. 

If spotify is used as a music bank where people already know what songs they want to listen to and can search it up, then this layout doesn't change anything. However, for people who are getting into exploring music and want to listen to albums in full and in chronological order, this would make their experience so so much better. Plus giving us a better layout would make us more likely to spend more hours on spotify which is great for Spotify itself because they can push more annoying ads at us OR we'd reach the point where the benefits of the service outweigh the annoying ads and monthly cost, leading to more subscriptions. Either way Spotify wins. Please consider

I agree!  Reversing the album order on an artist's discography is essential!  I understand that they may want to promote their new music, so I wouldn't be upset if "newest first" is the default.  However I prefer to listen to a band's oldest album first and hear their progression and development into newer material, and would love it if this feature were only a single click away (Or even change the default setting in preferences?).

I'd like this feature too. As others have said, I like to listen to artist's whole catalogs in the order they were released. This allows me to hear the evolution of their music over the course of their careers.

You make a discography page, but why would I want to see it in that order? I can see wanting to find the latest music from a favorite artist, but surely some sort of "new music" section would do that.

I'm curious if anyone, listening to an artist's entire discography, would want to listen in that order. I've never met someone, who likes to listen to whole discographies, who listens newest to oldest. We all listen oldest to newest. Otherwise we just pick the albums we want to hear.

So we've got 100 kudos, after two whole years of people occasionally searching "How to sort albums in Spotify" and ending up here to discover it's impossible. This kudos system is stupid, album sorting seems like such a small and obvious feature to include. Surely the pages of comments speak for themselves. But then I suppose Spotify doesn't see a reason to pay staff wages for something that won't directly increase their revenue.

Adding my piece to the mix. Yes please!!!!  I like digging back into the past for the memories and moving through a catalogue of my favourite artists to where they are now.

This option would be the bees knees to have my listening possible in this way.
